Hello...im a 28yr who originally had atrial tachycardia problems and had two failed ablations. About 5 years after that I developed symptomatic bradycardia in the 30s and had to have a pacer placed. Two years later I found out I have been having episodes of v tach and one episode that made me dizzy was polymorphic v tach (the bad kind) that lasted 6 seconds. I had all the tests done including mri (medtronic compatible pacemaker) and no structural problems were found. had ep study and was fai...

Into my 5th week after the implantation of my first crt pacemaker. After discussing my job duties with my EP, she told me after 6 - 8 weeks of recovery i ought to be able to perform my job as well as i did before the pacemaker. Knowing that there's always the possibility of unforeseen complications and losing even more time from work, i reported my medical procedure to my union in the hopes of freezing my health coverage just in case. The union then sent me to one of their doctors to confirm my...

Hi,
Please advise me if there are any precautions or procedures I should undertake before the operation. I'm planning for elective hysterectomy mid next month. Will it require my pm be turned off?

Hello everyone.
I am 42 years old and I have had extended episodes of ventricular ectopics since I was 26. The last three years they have been almost constant, and while the cardiologist has done all the checks and considers them benign, I find the symptoms very frustrating and am determined to have a pacemaker installed.
I live in Australia, and I am wondering if anyone has had experience with having the installation in Thailand or any other popular medical tourism countri...

Just got a PM yesterday at the age of 35 and was really depressed about it until i stumbled upon this site. The reason for getting it was my heart was stopping and i was passing out, while driving on the interstate and then during the tilt table test my heart stopped for 13secs and they had trouble waking me back up.
The questions i have is how long post op does the pain start to subside. And how fast can you get back to normal activitey minus of course the arm raising.
The...

Hi Everyone,
thanks to all of you who posted on my comment about how the pacemaker clinic techs were sending me to a psycologist because I had said I still have pain in the pm site after 8 months.
I had my appointment on Monday. the first question he asked was why was I here. I answered honestly. "Because I was told to come" & then I told him about the pain I'm experiencing.
He tried to delve into my personal life by asking about siblings, parents etc. Perhaps he wa...

When l read a post by one of "The regulars" l usually get an image of them in my head.
I know some members have their pic's in the gallery but l would rather stick with my own idea of what everyone looks like as l would hate them to look different to what l expect.
lts a bit like when you read a book & its made into a film its never anything like you imagined, is it?
As l said, was just thinking.............................................

I'm still on recovery, short term disability pension, with return to work just around the corner. The problem arises in my line of work.Being a welder and back up of QC with NDE tickets, Magnetic Partical Testing in particular, it appears I'll have to change jobs. The whole company is filled with welding machines and possible electronic interferance from other sources.Wondering what I should do? I have possibly another 10 to 12 years that I could work there. What should the return to work restric...

I'm a 63 year old man, and I had a pacemaker put in my upper left chest when I was 59. I have had occaional shocking chest pains while lying down since I received my pacemaker, like being shocked or stabbed with electricity. It's always 2 pains, the first pain causes me to be disoriented, then the second pain brings relief, as if it is correcting what the first pain started. -- This has been going on since I have had my pacemaker put in on April 9, 2009. - It only happens occasionally, and on...

Interested in the discussion about pacemaker Y/N. Wife's bp has been systol over 200, now controlled mainly via atenonol and anxiety pill. Wife's pulse usually low 50's sometimes high 40's. When bp controlled (130/77 - sometimes 120/65) she has headaches and generally feels lousy. I believe raising her pulse via pm would increase tremendously her quality of life.
(She was born 1935 in Nebraska.) (Her mother lived to 100, so I don't want her to have many years of substandard life). (Her phys...

Hello everyone. I have had issues with my cell phone ever since I had to have my ICD replaced because of a lead break. Now, prior to the surgery I had no problems whatsoever with the exact same cell phone. Once the new ICD was placed (which has wireless features) I virtually have no reception on my phone. The same exact phone! Please tell me others have experienced this.
Thanks,
Nicole33

I have a question for those of you who have had ablation of any kind. I have afib and I had gone to my EP who said that I'm a good candidate for a PVI ablation. He said that I would need to take a CT scan...prior to having the procedure. I have never had a CT scan..and I know there's a considerable amount of radiation that comes along with that....not to mention the radiation from the fluoroscope itself during the procedure.
So...am I overthinking this?? Maybe... but I would like to know...

Hello my friends all over the world - hope all is well
I have been invited to go on a drug trial - ALEGLITAZAR - I am at the moment being screened to see if I am the sort of person. Does anyone know of this drug, has it been found a success in other countries and should I continue to be a candidate ?
I have in the past always tried to help hospitals with drug trials, maybe this is the time to say STOP

I have what is probably a dumb question, however, here is my question--I work in the yard a lot and usually wear tank tops. Sometimes my pacemaker area is exposed to the sun. I am very thin and it seems to sit just under the skin. Will the heat from the sun damage it OR me (Smiles) if it is exposed and seems to really get warm? I just noticed the heat on it today while out working. I got my PM mid August last year and wasn't out in the sun much.
