Pain Mystery Pacemaker?

I'm a 63 year old man, and I had a pacemaker put in my upper left chest when I was 59. I have had occaional shocking chest pains while lying down since I received my pacemaker, like being shocked or stabbed with electricity. It's always 2 pains, the first pain causes me to be disoriented, then the second pain brings relief, as if it is correcting what the first pain started. -- This has been going on since I have had my pacemaker put in on April 9, 2009. - It only happens occasionally, and only when I'm lying down on a bed or recliner. It never happens when I'm up and about. -- The doctors and pacemaker techs seem baffled about it, as if it shouldn't be happening. -- They can't find any pacemaker connection to it, yet I never ever had these pains before the pacemaker was put in, and they have been quite consistent since I have had my pacemaker, but only occasionally like several times a month or less, but sometimes several times in one night.

Hi! You have been experiencing the problem you described for too long. If I were you, I would want a second opinion. Either your current medical care is encapable of finding the cause, not willing to or do not want you to know because one or more of them is liable. Also, is your GP aware of what you are experiencing? I hope the problem is resolved for you soon. Please keep us posted, and I hope the next time you do, you are feeling much better. Hopeful Heart

Hi, I had a very similar problem with my first PM. I told the doctor that it only happened when I lay down, that I feel like I am being shocked. He layed on the floor with me and felt it, I had new leads put in the next day. He originally put in screw type leads and that was the problem, he switched them to prong ones. Thankfully didn't have any more issues. Don't let anyone one tell you that you are not feeling it or that you are imagining it. I just had my third one changed yesterday, and I feel great. Good luck
