Hello my friends all over the world - hope all is well
I have been invited to go on a drug trial - ALEGLITAZAR - I am at the moment being screened to see if I am the sort of person. Does anyone know of this drug, has it been found a success in other countries and should I continue to be a candidate ?
I have in the past always tried to help hospitals with drug trials, maybe this is the time to say STOP
Regards

Your decision

Hi Suzy
First of all if nobody agreed to taking part in clinical trials there would never be another new drug launched. There would be no more new life-saving medicines !!
Drug testing,by law, has to go through 4 phases :-
Phase 1: Tests the safety of the drug
Phase 2: Tests to find out if the drug works or not
Phase 3: Finds out if it is any better than existing drugs or not and determines the optimum dosage,
Phase 4: these are trials which carry on after the drug has been given a licence
Ask your Dr which phase the trials are. I think that Aleglitazar has been around for some time and it seems to be a real advance in the treatment of diabetes . I would have no hesitation in taking part in the trial myself but it is your decision.

I participated in a drug trial for 2 new diabetes drugs given in conjunction; after reading about the drugs I said I would decline taking the drugs due to written side effects. and just use diet & exercise to control. The doc decided to keep me in the trial as an alternative .... the results were surprising to him & nurses... My numbers came down... weight, BP, and blood sugars... they said the results were actually helpful in the trial as I was the only one who had success. .... go figure!
