Return to work

I work as a welding consultant. I went back to office work
the day after my pacemaker implant. I started driving after 1 week.
I don't have to get to close to the actual weldin,I have inspectors for that.
I am 71 years old,but not ready to retire.

Welding

I too was discouraged to not be able to weld, I had just begun a class to learn. I'm nearly 69 and have waited a long time to be able to do metal sculpting.

Then the idea that with 20K pms being done each year, on people of all ages, the pm industry must be dealing with this issue somehow. I cannot imagine that all the welders receive pms over the last 30yrs have had to give up their profession.

So, called the company who made my. Biotronics. Had to push the so-called techy into telling us the reality of pms and welders. He gave us a list of "have tos" when welding. One was to stand/be 2' away from the welder.

If you want to do some welding, call your company, talk with the technical people and tell them you've read their brochure, but want the real possibilities. Remember the brochures are written/edited by lawyers and insurance people, not medical folk.

Good luck

I think that was the hardest thing to deal with for me.... I gave my welder to my brother-in law since I no longer could use it .. :-( glad to hear your doing so well !!! Keep it up....
