So today I did my first home remote transmission. Have had monitor since last summer, after surgery, but jave had appts,so interrogations were done then.
So, I read the booklet, pretty simple. Was to do it today,so did it this am before work, followed directions, pretty much.
Lights all lit up and so on,but wasn't sure if it went thru.
Guess it didn't,Oops!
Clinic called home while I was at work, left message, saying I m issed my thing, and making sure things are ok,which they are.
So,went at it again, did same things, with the exception of the morning attempt I stood while I did it.
Tonight,I sat on the floor, put the monitor on the floor by me,and it worked,as far as I could tell, the end light did come on,sayingit went thru.
So after a short story, can anyone tell me if standing or sitting makes a difference when you have the antenna thing on you>
Maybe it was my phone being tempermental or something......just wondered if this is something I should expect when I do this.
And,let me ask this, does the Dr or whoever send you a report or call you with the scoop on how things are usually?
Just curious.
C'mon Donr, you have to weigh in here.....................................

I have had my pacemaker since April. I have my first transmission due in July. I originally thought it monitored you almost daily but guess it is just every 3 months. I read though that some people get bills from St Jude and from their doctor for the transmission. If that is the case, I will just have it checked at my regular doc appt. Hope all is going well with you.

I did have the communicator you speak of for several years. I always sat down in a chair in front of it, put the wand in place and never had a problem. The machine always said the transmission was sent. The office E.P. nurse always called me after (usually in a few hours) and told me the results. October I got a new ICD and a new communicator. This one is great! All I have to do is be in the bed at 3AM asleep and the machine finds me across the bed, through my husband and reads the last 24 hours of activity. I wish everyone could have 1 of these!! Hope this was of some help, Best of luck to you! Bev of NC

I have a Medtronics monitor, and I think Im supposed to do this every 3 months,or every 6 months, cant remember, figure when they mail me the date and time reminder, thats when I know!
Maybe since my landline is tied in with my internet and TV now,its better if the TV is off.I know I wasn't online at the time.As long as the 2nd time it worked,Im good with it.
That's good to know that they may call me and let me know, since I did the transmission around 7 pm,Ill have to wait and see if they call me this am.
Maybe too there is a wire issue with the monitor,I will have to check it out the next time I use it.First time its a whole new ballgame for me.Figure too, this saves me a hald hour drive to a device clinic, saving time and money for gas.
Kinda weird though, just blows my mind that I held the mouse like thing over and it took my info over the line to cyberspace.
Never thought this time last year I would be sitting here writing about something like this.............but sometimes we have to deal with what life throws at us!
All good input guys, thanks as always!

CARELINK MONITOR
by Ger - 2013-06-22 03:06:47
I have had a Medtronic PC since Jan., 2012, and acquired a CARELINK monitor early this year. I set it up by myself with some help from CARELINK. Called my cardio Dr. &
Told him I was doing the procedure. Office called me back a very short time later & said report had been rec'd.
Dr said to do the home monitoring every 2 months BUT still wants me to have the interrogation (which I am having this coming Thurs,). CARELINK said that if there was anything 'troubling' , they would contact my cardio Dr.
Wish to tell all of you out there how I have enjoyed this site and all the valuable info that I have gleaned from you.
Am getting ready to head for NewHampshire next week for a month's trip to visit with family and old friends.
You know you're wired when...
You make store alarms beep.

Beyond that, Laura, I cannot help you.
I get a download about every third month at my cardio's office whether I need it or not, so have no association w/ magic transmitters.
