I had a Medtronic pacemaker about 18 months. I need a MRI on my Knee. The doctor has an open MRI. Some people say that you must be in a closed MRI. The Medtronic rep says it must be a closed MRI. My ortho says the open has less power than an Open MRI, Does anyone have any experience in this matter?

I posted a few weeks back about ongoing pain in my left underarm. Had a check-up this week and doc says no lumps, no bumps, nothing scary, but she thinks I've got chronic pectoral muscle pain caused by my pacemaker! (My cardiology team say they've never heard of such a thing.) I'm thin and there's not much tissue around my PM so it has a tendency to "hang" or move, especially when I'm bending, doing yoga, etc. Doc says physical therapy to build u...

Hey! My daughter is 14 and was wired last year. She has a pacemaker/defibrillator. Does anyone know of another teen or support system for her age group? There really is not much for teens. Thanks!

Hi all. I've been using my I pad lately for several hours daily propping it on or near my chest and as of a couple days ago my heart is "acting up" as in skipping beats or irregular. That hasn't happened to me since it was first put in and had to be adjusted several times, but that was this past March. So I've been fine till now. (Dec. 22). Do I need to get my pm checked, or stay away from this addictive I-pad? Happy Holidays to...

Hi Everyone
this is my first post, I have had my PM since September 2016. I recently saw my cardiologist and the Boston Scientific tech amped me up to 70, I am set at 40. So doctor was happy and sent me away. I have not really had any episodes where I am aware I am pacing except when the techs have paced me. So for the last three days I have been having episodes of feeling a little light headed and I get a butterflies in my neck, today I was shopping and had to sit for 20 min...

Haven't posted in a while but now looking at some options. I really don't know where I stand right now and probably won't until I see my cardio again next week. My afib is back and I'm actually running out of options available to me. As some know already I have a PM for SSS, I've had an ablation for A-fib once before and have also had open heart surgery Maze procedure to correct it. was actually taken off all drugs until last December when it started acting up again, then...

So great to have found this site. I'm a 63 yr old female. St Jude CRT was implanted on Dec 7,2016 Already feeling better. Have had a nagging headache since implant. But I always have had headaches, so I can't exactly blame my device. My question is about the broadband hook up for the Merlin@home. Can anyone give me the name & model of router & adapter that will make it transmit on wifi. I'm not about to pay what I've seen in the forum is the price...

I have had my pacemaker for 5yrs and in the last 6 months or so have developed extreme pain in my shoulder. It almost feels like nerve issues. Burning, shocking feeling that has started to radiate down my arm with certain movement. My range of motion without pain has decreased dramatically. Has anyone else experienced this?

Are most pacemaker's BPM set with a low of 60 and a high of 130?
Is there anyone whose low number is set lower than 60 or higher than 60?
This is not a survey. I am just trying to figure if mine was above 60 maybe it would help my tiredness in the day time.
Although a bunch of people read my message inquiring about sleep mode, there was only one response. Would a setting below 60 at night help me sleep? Anyone else has dealt with this before?
Has anyone heard of "looping'?

I am 4 months post 2nd PM. .I have felt FANTASTIC. My first PM was a fiasco that only lasted 3 years but this has been great.
For 40 years I've suffered with extreme panic disorder. So, on Tuesday when suddenly my heart started to race (not crazy fast, but fast) I thought that was what was happening. However, this time the rhythm was different.
I've been a wanna be doctor since I was a child. So, for 55+ years I've been a fanatical reader of medical books and journals...

Hello everyone! I'm actually really excited I found this site! I hope to tell my story and find someone that has a similar experience.
September 8, 2014: A little less than 2 weeks after I had my first child I had to have a dnc, during the procedure they noticed a extreme irregularity in my heartbeat. So once I woke up from the surgery a cardiologist came in and told me they would be putting a heart monitor on me for 24 hours to monitor me. Okay no biggie. 2...

I recenly had a Medtronix Vita CRT implanted and have noticed my BP will run over 100BPM 'just by the exertion of taking a shower. When I sit down it does drop normally but I never noticed this previously with my ST Jude ICD. Is this normal with CRT's to have this increase in BP with what doesn't seem to be a lot of exertion.

Im wondering how long it will take before I feel better. I had sss with heart stopping and having a hard time restarting for the reason I needed the pm. I can feel it when it resets, or turn on expecially if I bend over. Im 64 and had a-fib for about 30 years prior and a cryo ablation in 2013. I have no energy, headaches expecially when I am just waking up, shakey, dizzy, not much concentraion. Im also having hot flashes mostly in the evening which I havent had i...

Hi there
Im 18 years old and have recently been told that i need a Pacemaker
I was wondering if having a PM means i cant travel for long periods of time ? I had planned to move overseas next year for 12 months and now i am unsure if that is possible..?
Also, do the scars stay as agressive as all the photos on google ? And are the pacemakers visable ? Do they sick out ?
Thank you so much in advance

I just discovered this site and am excited to find a site where others with CRT-D's share their experiences. I had my first ICD installed ten years ago and just had the Medtronix CRT-D implanted three weeks ago.
Along with my CHF I also have stage 4 renal failure with Creatinine level of 2.4 and GFR of 27. My first question is does anyone know if the CRT-D has sMyhown any improvements on renal failure?
My second question is how long it takes to get your stamina back? My job re...

So just took a 7 hour road trip that I normally sleep 6 hours of every time we make it. I happily just stayed awake the entire time!!
This would probably sound like an odd joy to state but I knew that the people here would understand the happiness of having more energy we have after receiving a pacemaker. (Or hope to)
My husband kept telling me how nice it was having me awake the whole time.

You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
