Merlin@home

So great to have found this site. I'm a 63 yr old female. St Jude CRT was implanted on Dec 7,2016  Already feeling better. Have had a nagging headache since implant. But I always have had headaches, so I can't exactly blame my device. My question  is about the broadband hook up for the Merlin@home. Can anyone give me the name & model of router & adapter that will make it transmit on wifi. I'm not about to pay what I've seen in the forum is the price from the company. $450 is outrageous. I read so much from the other posts, & I'm not that much of a tech geek. My late husband filled that roll for me. I was the mechanical one. After being alone for 9 years I'm getting into the tech more, but know when to ask for help. A buffalo router was mentioned. Which model? Does model matter? Then what hooks up to the Merlin?  Any help will be fantastic!!  Just want to get monitor up & going.

Thanks to all

Thanks angry sparrow for the comment. However my problem is the cell adapter won't lock onto a cell tower. There is a wifi kit for $450 from the manufacturer. Searching on line I've found a discussion in pacemaker club about using an easily available buffalo router & USB adapter at a cost of under $100. None of us have money to throw away, so I'm looking for a bit more information about that set up. I'll probably eventually digest all the posts I've read & figure it out. Just looking for a quicker solution.

Thanx!!

Mine doesn't use the router. They programmed it and I just plugged it in.

My cardiologist provided me wth a SJM EX1150 monitor, which uses a a TP-link TL-WN721IN USB wireless network adapter and a TP-Link Wireless Access Point, (WAP) attached by CAT5 to a my router, which is, in turn, connected to a Comcast cable modem.  The WAP and network adapter were in the Broadband Kit provided to me by my cardiologist.

I too, wanted to just use my existing WiFi setup to connect tot he monitor and skip the TP-Link Wireless Access Point, and have gone thru several gyrations (including contacting SJM) to try to do this. Unfortunately, SJM has put some magic into the WAP and the network adapter which does not allow that. I guess the connecdtion between those two components use super secret sauce, and SJM won't allow anybody access to the recipe. I suspet it's their way of bleeding the $450 that I've seen our of you.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I have tried to do the same thing you're trying and have not succeeded.

Broadband kit cost

SJM (Abbott) does not charge patients for broadband kits- they're sold through a 3rd party company :) Abbott never sees that $450.
