I just discovered this site and am excited to find a site where others with CRT-D's share their experiences. I had my first ICD installed ten years ago and just had the Medtronix CRT-D implanted three weeks ago.
Along with my CHF I also have stage 4 renal failure with Creatinine level of 2.4 and GFR of 27. My first question is does anyone know if the CRT-D has sMyhown any improvements on renal failure?
My second question is how long it takes to get your stamina back? My job requires me to travel abroad which means lots of navigating through airports.

Hello Ron.
Heart failure does indeed affect kidney function and creatinine levels but I'm not able to intelligently answer that part of your question. But please post anything your doctors say about it because I would be very interested in knowing.
As far as stamina, everyone is different. However, I'm now 3 years out from my first PM and I have so much more energy it's hard to believe. I had a tough first year but it's been smooth sailing ever since then.
I, too, travel abroad for work on a regular basis. I understand the grind of border control, baggage claims, etc in the biggest airports in the world; i.e., not always easy! I suggest going at your own pace (especially if you're alone). After 3 years of being paced, I now leave my husband (who is my business partner) in the dust; I keep wondering if HE needs a PM! If you're ever unsure of yourself, make arrangements in advance to have a porter meet you with a wheelchair, especially if you're flying coach!!! Nothing is more enervating than flying coach on an international flight.

The recovery takes time. We are all different but 4-6 weeks is the accepted guideline. Like suppose in theory it could improve some renal function as it goes in hand with severe CHF but a cardiac implant device works on your heart. The D is for Defibrillator, to kick in and save your life.
best ask your doctor about correlation between heart function and renal status.
best of luck
