Received a Wire X Cell converter today. It's hooked up and waiting for my next at home transmission via cell tower instead of land line. Easy to hook up. My Medtronic's Rep ordered for me through my Cardio Doc's office.
Now I can cut my land line...! Who knows, cable could be next.

Hi grateful heart, they did say that they had not heard of one lasting that long.Maybe I might get a write up in the medical books. On my concern about coughing quite hard whem I got home from hospital, do you think o could have disloged the lead by coughing.

Hi everyone, I had my nearly 29 year old pacemaker replaced on tuesday the 1st of march.I had to have a new add on atrial lead.I did not have to have a temporary pacer wire, as they said I have my own heart rate of 50.The surgery was not bad, it took a bit of pulling out.I had it done tuesday lunch time, and was home for 8.30 in the evening. When I got home I had a tickly cough, I coughed quite hard, I am a bit concerned could the coughing have dislodged the lead . Hopefully everthing will be ok...

Hello all-- I'm a newbie to this group and also a newbie with my pacemaker. I've had it for 2 weeks now and it is a dual chamber pm. We took a pet to the vet this morning and shortly after entering the exam room, I started having some pacing problems which continued until I left that exam room some 10 minutes later. We did much running around afterwards and it never happened again. I have been relatively free of problems since the placement. I decided to call the vet and she said they have...

Today the new EP I went to for a second opinion told me that AF and AT weren't such a problem for me with a pacemaker fitted as it controlled the pumping of my ventricles and as such the blood was still flowing through my heart efficiently even though I would still be feeling unpleasant sensations in my chest.
Is this true?
I've had AF and AT in the past and they both frighten me.

I'm 4 1/2 weeks post replacement. The tape finally came off last weekend but there was enough sticky residue around the incision from the tape that it still looks all bruised and ugly. I didn't want to scrub at it but soap and rubbing alcohol didn't touch it. I ran into a nurse friend this morning at the gym who saw it and asked why it's still so bruised, I said it's sticky gunk, she said try olive oil. Two quick swipes and it came right off!
Don't try this at home if your incision i...

Hi,
I got my PM in August 2012 after the EP fried my AV node during an ablation. To say I was not a happy camper was understatement.
Between then and now has not been a good time for me and slowly but surely I have been sinking psychologically. I've had some rough times and visits to the ED.
I've had ectopics for sometime and they had been reasonably quiet until November last year. I was put on Verapamil which I guess over time quieten things down again. I went b...

Had my ICD/PM check today, and asked two questions the EP tech didn't answer to my satisfaction, my EP doc is on vacation.
(1) Non-sustained VT. I had just over 400 incidents of "VT-NS", all one second or less. We think most of them occurred when I was exercising. The tech said that my ventricular ablation this summer, and the beta blockers are working, since I always returned to normal rhythm without the ICD doing anything. She said it was really up to me whether I should even make a...

Howdy, I posted here before about my diagnosed sinus bradycarida/sinus node dysfunction(RHR 36-42bpm). My doctor doesn't think I need a pacemaker at this point, or is unwilling to proceed in that direction possibly due to my age(based on comments of his about my being too young for a pacer).
I'd really like to get back into cycling, it's been many years since I hit the bike hard. I've been getting out of shape, and part of the reason I went to get checked out in the first place is due...

Does anyone know what the setting on a St. Jude CRT-D should be that causes it to go into shock mode? Would there be different setting for different people?

My Medtronic pacer was placed in 2011. I had a routine interrogation and the NP stated to extend my battery life she was lowering my voltage setting. She stated I would not feel a difference. Since this was done 5 days ago and now I have been nauseous and now feel my pacing to a point of discomfort. Can this happen? I have noticed that I don't feel the weird thumping sensation when I would lay on my right side. But would rather have that then this nausea and discomfort. Any advice? My p...

I did raise this problem about a month back. I went to GH for physiotherapy (only twice) and was taught to do some excercise which I do at home. At times when I overdid the excercise or accidentally streched my hand to get something higher up then my shoulder muscle would ache the rest of the day. Lying down and sleeping time is the most comfortable time. The pm seems to have settle in when I am lying down. I dread getting up. Sitting up from a lying position is a real discomfort. The pm seems t...

I want to thank everyone who answered by recent posts as I prepare for pacer #4! I am scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 6am Monday morning. My current pacer has served me well for 9 years. Needless to say, I am a little anxious for the surgery. God willing, I will be home Monday afternoon with my new friend...pacer #4!
Thanks again friends,

Hi its Sue again, after my husband removed his PM due to infections. Now he is in dilemmas as to put it again after so much complications which he has gone through. Meantime now he is still on drips until fully recovery from the infections. Pls give us yr opinion or suggestions what shall we do? Remark; The doctor told him that he has a weak heart and he...

I got a muscle ache flu while away from home. No stomach issues. Passed out in restaurant awaiting table. Bradycardia. EMT took me to local hospital. Admitted, pain meds, EKG's, carotid scans, echo cardio. Was told I needed a pacemaker - 2008. Called home doc on the weekend back East (I was in Southern Calif). Advice: make sure the doc has done it before. OK, he's done many over the years, I found out. So now I have a pacemaker. I've never had any issues before or since, although I've be...

I am the proud new owner of a Boston Scientific CRT device. 02-18-2016. The day before the implant I rode 15 miles on my bike and felt okay. Now I walk 25 yards quickly and I am tired and getting short of breath. My resting pulse used to be 50-60, now its set at 70. It has only been a week but shouldn't I feel better? Maybe my medications are too strong now. Thanks.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
