Hello everyone,
I was reading the recent posts and someone, I think Frank posted a comment that often those who went for months in marginal condition find some organs and even the brain need time to recover.
Thank you for saying that! It makes so much sense, it just had never occured to me! I would be one of those! I went for a couple of years in that state before I had a diagnosis. My symptoms started out as an annoyance but progressed to where I couldn't even walk int...

'I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and
we all could probably use more calm in our lives.
Some doctor on TV this morning said the way to achieve inner peace is
to finish all the things you have started.
So, I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't
finished.....
....so, I have managed to finish off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of
Chardonnay, a bodle of JacK Daniells, a butle of wum, a pocka...

Gosh I am so greatful for the moral support you have given me. It is so comforting to know first of all that you are not alone in this situation and secondly that others reach out to comfort you with their experiences and incouragement.
I am supprised to see how resilient this 4 yr old child is, how amazingly she accepts all the medical procedures as though she understands what and why things are being done.
After her last surgery which she was put on a heart lung bypass machine I di...

Thank you to all PM pals who have showed such concern. Our night passed uneventfully and there were no folks at the evacuation centre this morning when we went into town to shop. The fire is still burning but our temperatures have dropped significantly and we even had a sprinkling of rain am.
Unforntunately even we do not get too much news about our own area as it is focussed on the mainland of Austalia which is burning away. Our family is safe and and we are still keeping a visual...

My daughter just had a pacmaker inserted two days ago. She went home today. She lives in another state and I was planning a visit this weekend. I think I'm coming down with a cold. Will it be dangerous for my daughter to have me visit her so soon after her operation?

I was planning on waiting until my battery got changed to get pregnant. My husband and I were ready to try after I planned to get my battery replacement in about 6 weeks... Well....I just found out I was pregnant 5 days ago... Very early stages... Only about 3 weeks along... Got my PM checked today and it says it could go to battery save mode from now until 6 months from now... So I scheduled it in for next Friday.. My heart doctor did not have much input on it at all... I asked him what he thou...

Thank you to everyone who answered my posting "Year of Friendship.'
It is so great to have such a wide circle of friends.
We all received an evacuation order via our mobile phones tonight at 5.30pm to go to the showground down in the town near us. We are waiting to see how close the fire comes. It will be a long night. The winds are so fierce they are fanning the fire into a frenzy. We are hoping we will be safe as we are in the middle of open farmland that is cropped...

Hi folks.
Just looking at the list of: Who's on Line and it occured to me: How did you get your sign in name. Bet there are some interesting answers out there. Mine: Blue - well for some reason I husband calls me that. In Australia a redheaded person can be called Blue but I am not redheaded. I laughed one day when I got my new bank passbook back and imy name was handwritten and instead of Billie it looked like Blue T.....
Cheers to all Blue

Just joined the Pacemaker Club tonight. I got mine on Dec 28 at 11:00 PM! Went to the hospital about noon and laid in the ER till about 4:00 when they took me to the ICU ( my daughter works in this ICU). It was certainly a lot more comfortable in the ICU than the ER, they have air mattresses there. It was determined that I would go the the Cath Lab for the pacemaker around noon on Saturday. As I rested in the ICU my pulse was between 25 and 29 and that is with all sorts of drugs being put i...

Since I joined the PM Club in 2004 I have made many friends all over the world. As a lot of you folks know I live in a quite an isolated part of Australia on the island of Tasmania. When I got my pm I fetl desolate, lonely and isolated, then I found this site when looking for a support group.
This morning I had a phone call from Alma Annie. We just talked and talked. Alma Annie lives in South Australia. She has family in Tasmania. When I was expressing my sadness some time ago re...

My 6 year old son is just gone back to school today, after two open heart surgeries and a pacemaker (abdomen) .. We came out of hospital on 1st November... His surgeons said 6-8 weeks for sternum etc to heal but school are querying playground issue as there are 90 kids who go to play together sometimes things get a bit rough and tumble.... I was told to treat him as normal child but what is best let him get back to normal or keep him off playground for another while and if so from anyone else's...

I am going to my cardiologist on January 23 rd and then have an appointment scheduled with the surgeon. I would like your thoughts on having my PM inserted just under the skin or more into the muscle. If it makes a difference I will be getting an MRI compatible PM. I have a complete left Bundle Block and Cardiomyopothy. I don't want it to show or hurt when wearing a bra or using a seatbelt in the car. I understand changing the battery with it just being under the skin is easier than when it is...

The past few days have made me crazy. I have had the pacer since Sept. If asked I would not do this again. I have had more issues than ever. Heart rate is jumping around and sadness is very profound. Due to the surgery I lost my job. I was off longer than fmla covers. So my company let me go. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi all,
I have stumbled across this site and was wondering if I could post a question.
I am 33 and my partner has had his pacemaker for just under 2 years. I am also in my final year of studies to be an occupational therapist and we have been tasked with a project to find a gap in health and social care and develop a product that will enhance service users experiences. Based on my partners personal experiences we feel there is not a lot of readily available information for youn...

I have had several Medtronic pacemakers. I have had this one about three years and recently I started to notice some viabration. Strange, it actually feels like it is about 5-6 inches below the device. I have not had it checked; nor have I tried calling the company.

Is a Boston JO63 Advantio DR pacer MRI compatible ? The Boston web pages do not list this pacer model. I have had it about 12 weeks. Thanks in advance for any responses. Boston say on their web pages some are ok for scans.

I want to drop my land line and switch to MagicJack. My doctor says he can discontinue the service with Merlin and I can just come in more often for PM checks. Will Merlin charge me for its equipment or ask me to return it, or charge me for discontinuing the service?
Anybody have any information about this?

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
