Static electricity

Has anyone had a problem with static electricity and their PM? I recently bought a recliner and all it does is shock me with static. Yesterday had an episode w/PM.

Don covered the pacer interference well so I won't go into it.

One suggestion on the chair just for comfort is to spray it periodically with an antistatic liquid. Some of the anti-cling sprays for women's dresses will work. The are also commercial sprays that are even better.

And one last warning. Don't locate the chair anywhere near your computer. Just getting up from it and walking to your computer can leave with a charge that can cause the computer to reboot and lose data.

I live in the Move Desert of California where we see 5% humidity. I live with it constantly. I just walked into the kitchen for a drink of water while wearing a new pair of slippers and could see the blue flash as I touched the faucet. Felt it too!

ZAP!!!!!

Ed: Ah, the old static electricity caper!

Static should not affect your PM. There's not much electrical current involved, & the static charge that is bled off is ALL on the outside of your body, not the inside where the PM is.

Your rercliner is probably upholstered in a non-conductive vinyl material. When you slide into the chair & out of it, you generate the static charge. As soon as you touch the floor, the charge bleeds off & you feel the ZAP! Next time you feel like it affected the PM, record the time & date & ask the cardio if there is anything in its record. Thereprobably wil not be - if the PM & conductors are working correctly.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
