I had my PM implant 18 days ago. I had a slow heart beat but really had no side effects. I reported the slow beat to my cardiologist and after wearing a monitor for 24 hours I was sent to a electrophsiologist who recommended the pacemaker. One day after surgery I developed a DVT (blood clot) in my elbow and was re-admitted to hospital. Now I am on a blood thinner Xalerta that seem to be a great medication (if there is such a thing). How long on the B .thinner is anybody guess. As for the PM I fe...

Just recently had a Boston Scientific K174 implanted. I love to run and I have total av block and SSS. The last 5 years have been frustrating to endure a minimum of a 5k.
1. I am not sure what your experience was with your operation, but I experienced some anxiety due to the surgery teams not applying any anesthesia or meds. while waiting in covered status with a restrained feeling. this went on for what seemed 15 to 20 minutes until the doctor was ready. Is this normal? I almost had to...

Hi Guys,
I have a question, I had my pacemaker place on Monday August 18th, I have had some shortness of Air but my oxygen level is good, and chest xray on Tuesday showed no pneumothorax, I am wondering if anyone else has had this, I thinking it might be just my body trying to adjust to having a normal heart rate after it being so low. Thank you all in advance.

Can anyone offer any words of encouragement? This is my first posting but I have been reading the post for a few months now. This site has been very confronting but now that my procedure is in the morning I am on edge. I am a 39 year old female with cardiomyopathy and my EF has been between 17-25% for the last year or so and I have a bundle block. I am looking forward to my new life after the ICD is implanted but I have to admit I am scared of the pain because the device will be placed under...

I was quite worried about having my pacemaker replaced as I have no AV node and no residual pacing. However the whole experience was fantastic. I thought of a way of putting the hospital under pressure indirectly which worked a treat. There was a bed waiting for me at 8 in the morning. I hardly had time to lay in it when I was whisked off down to surgery. My blood pressure soared but whan I got back to the ward it wnet down and I was allowed home and told to rest. I was up with a lark the next da...

Hi All
I've just received my letter saying that Im due to go for the battery change on 30th September. They may be putting a extra lead in as at the moment I only have one rather than two. I work as a support worker and deal with personal care for the residents in my care. What is the most likely time I will be able to go back to work after surgery?
Thanks in advance
Nia

Hi, I had my first PM inserted on 16/0712014 sent home same day, ended up back in hospital with all sorts of pain next day where I was kept in and after 4 days they realised that the lead had moved, so they had to operate again on 22/07/2014.
Back home next day, since then I have been so sore round my ribs, dull pain on my right side under my ribs, and an dull pain under left ribs with the occasional stabbing pain, this scare me as that is what I had for 4 days before they realised lead had...

Hi, new here and sitting in the hospital. They want to put a pacemaker in me due to my pulse sitting around 37-45.
My pulse has always been on the low side when i was younger
but im 62 now, and i figure it!s about time to start having health problems. The only problem is, that i am on a opiate substitute to stay off. a prescription drug problem that i had. That means i would have to stop taking them and i would go into withdrawals.
I wanted to leave the hospital amd finish...

Good news, might not need pacemaker. Pulse has gone up since i stopped taking opiate medicine, so my pulse has gone up to low 50's instead of the 30's. There keeping one more day to monitor me and then release me. I am really really relieved because i wasn't to thrilled about running around with a lump in my chest.

Hi: I had my pacemaker put in on 6/23/14, and had dizzy spells even after insertion of this new device. THey stopped for awhile, but now past 2 days I am getting them again. Not weak like before the Pacemaker, just dizziness that comes and goes. Is anyone else experiencing that.
I have to say my energy has gotten better. I could hardly walk before I got my Pacemaker, and I find I can walk a little faster now with more energy.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
