Hi all have finally had my pacemaker fitted so guess I am now a official memeber! They have fitted me with a medtronic aair mri safe single lead pm! Have been for a check up they have now set my resting heart rate to 60bpm. I have been sleeping alot last few days its really taken it out of me guess this is normal? Feel like I no when it is working think I had got used to a slow beating heart dont really no if it has stopped all my symptoms yet guess time will tell or should it be a instant think? They told me at the pm clinic might take time to get my settings right is that something others have come across? Any one got good advice for the next few weeks recovery apart from not moving my arm to much it hurts so thats a reminder lol! Thanks again to everyone for all the advice before the pm you were all great! Cheers Ben

It takes time to heal

Give yourself time to heal. Some people say that they felt better right away, for others it took time to heal and adjust both mentally and physically to your new little buddy.
Get moving as soon as you're able, even your arm within the restrictions. Go slowly at first but make sure you're getting going again. Listen to your body. It will let you know if you over do it, but just sitting or laying around is not good either. I couldn't tolerate sitting for to long so started walking around the house and then outside for short walks. When I got tired I'd take a break and then go walk again. Ice can help with the post surgery swelling.
If you're active you may need tweaks since they usually send you home with average settings. Tweaking depends on how you feel. If you feel OK, then the settings are right for you. Remember that when they tell you that your PM is working fine, it means that it's working exactly as programmed. Whether that programming is right for you is another question.
Get a copy of your interrogation report when you get a device check. It has all your settings and modes in it. You can then ask questions here if you need help.
Remember it's a process and you're at the beginning of getting back to your life again.
