Call the doctor's office that implanted the device if you're not sure but I'd leave it off if it were me. If you will have a seatbelt rubbing on it, you may want to roll a sock or something soft between the incision and the belt. You might also but on an antibiotic ointment a couple times a day.
You've got a wonderful, long life ahead of you Cory. I'm so glad you were able to get the PM now instead of waiting until you're in your 30s.
thanks. guy's

Different surgeons have different protocols. Call the surgeon's office. No need to worry about "bothering" the Great One. A nurse, even the receptionist, can probably answer your question. They've likely heard it hundreds if not thousands of time before.
But don't be afraid to know what you know. Do you tend to heal fast, slow or about average? You know what a cut looks like as it's healing. Look at the wound. Does it look closed to you? If it doesn't, you need to call the surgeon for further instructions.
If it does, let the bandage fall off and leave it off. The main caution is not to let the incision site get wet until the staples have been removed. If you've just got to have a shower, tape some cling wrap over it. (be sure to remove it afterward!)
Don't worry. The PM has not made you fragile. You can trust your common sense.
