Have any of you had to go back to the hospital and get opened up because a lead got disconnected????

Get a EP. They are board certified to do this cardiologist are not.

and you should be fine. No lifting anything heavy and no arm over your head for a few months. Some people have had issues with leads but not the majority (although I think we all have the same fear).

Yes, it is possible for a pacemaker's leads to loosen or even disconnect. If this happens, it always happens in the "acute phase," or right after surgery. There is no way to fix this except with another surgery but you won't be "opened up." It would probably be done with a small incision. They most likely won't have to remove or add a lead, they will just reposition it.
