I don't have a pacemaker, but I decided to post on this board because I think many of the people on here have faced similar health issues.
The problem is that after 10 years I'm finally done avoiding the fact that I might have a problem and it's really, really uncomfortable.
I have my first appointment with a cardiologist in a few weeks and I don't want to go. I have only recently found out that I have a resting heart rate in the 80s and 90s, but when I stand or move...
Precautions for PM Medtronic A3DR01

Had A3DR01 implanted on Mar.17/16 (only 1 lead attached for now) and to this point everything has gone better than expected. No pain, and walked 1/4 mile with no problem. I read an article in "www.medtronic.ca/patientresources" that outlines what you can and can't do and one of the things is not to operate a chain saw. My family Doc thinks this may be old and if I am concerned wear rubber gloves when operating the saw.
Has anyone had experience with using a chain saw after the implant ?

I went to a pain management doctor today. I've never been to one before. I've been having greater hip pain the past 6 months or so but now my lower back pain is off the charts.
My BP today was 160/101. My BP is usually in the normal range. The Nurse said she could tell I was in a lot of pain and that my BP confirmed it.
The doctor wanted me to get an MRI. I told him I can't have one so he is sending me for a CT. He thinks it is osteoarthritis of the lumba...

All in all feeling pretty good about my PM. My only concern is that the lump on my chest is still fairly pronounced. Has anyone had a similar experience? I've almost completely resumed normal activities (swimming, walking, elliptical) with no problem. I'm also concerned about tossing and turning at night for fear that I may be putting undue stress on the device. I feel too that I've become more 'edgy' and not in a good way. Any comments are welcomed. Thanks.

Haven't been here in a while, been busy with work and daughter's upcoming wedding etc. Finally found out a couple of weeks ago why I was so short of breath and not feeling well (since about November of 2015) despite the PM, the OHS I had last year etc. ASTHMA! believe it or not! now doing better. Now I have another issue totally unrelated I am having ankle pain and have been for about 3-4 weeks(kept thinking it would go away) finally gave in and saw the dr. about it today and thinks it's tend...

Hi guys,
I am new here. I am 37y.o, married with 2 kids.
Recently I got warded due to irregular heartbeat n giddiness. Almost blackout while sitted in my office.
Doc send me thru tests like ultrasound, trackmill, ECGs, MRI etc. He told me very likely I need to install a PM.
I am pretty worried as the articles I found in the internet, those complications I read up here and those things you can't do or task you cant perform well enough as compare to a normal person with...

Hi. I am new to the forum .
I am due to get my 3rd pacemaker changed on Thursday .
I am so nervous , I have a chest infection and doctor has put me on steroids and antibiotics . I am really concerned that the doctor at the hospital won't change the box due to the infection. I am off work for 2 weeks whilst kids are off school , I wanted to recover at home .
I haven't told people that I have a pacemaker as I find they look at you different . I have had them since I was 18 .

I had a heart attack 8 years ago (49), took about 6 months to start feeling right but heart rate/blood pressure always remained low, like high 40's low 50's and 100/70. Year after year Cardiologist never said much other than things looked great. Ran 30 min every other day, ate great and was pretty active. Had a near-syncope while eating breakfast a month ago and called doc. Put on Holter and after 2 weeks recorded another VT, it stopped spontaneously in about a second and I felt momentarily...

I recently had a new pocket made for a replacement pacemaker. I was sutured with non-dissolvable stitches which have to come out in a couple of days. At both ends of the row of sutures there are white plastic bobbles. Has anyone any idea what these are called and why they are used? Curious, as one is burying itself into my skin.

I have had a single chamber (right ventricle) PM for 3rd degree AV block that was put in a month ago. Can any of you feel your PM "fire" during the heart pauses? I was told by my pacemaker nurse that some people don't feel it, but others feel palpitations and lightheadedness (what they called pacemaker syndrome). The symptoms are due to asynchrony of ventricle when the PM fires.
I have a 3-month follow-up in late May 2016. For now, when I have these episodes, I will list when they happen. T...

For those who might, misguidedly, wish to see what TM looks like...then punch in ...beat-it grantham uk....
If you are really unlucky then you may well get a picture of me at yesterdays little local showcase for local support groups..
I'm the guy in the red shirt and very expensive 'D C' shoes...largely obscured by a visitor ...who was very keen to be a 'presenter' at a future Beat-It meeting...
All in all a worthwhile little 'do'.. an opportunity to meet local D...

I posted the other day. I really appreciate Your responses! I have another question. Do any of You have a Biotronik Eluna? Do any of You have a monitor(?) on Your nightstand? It has a bright green light which is bothersome when trying to go to sleep! It also kind of wigs Me out when I look at it, Hoping it doesn't start blinking, which I guess indicates a problem! I just try to ignore it, but sometimes it bothers Me. Does anyone else have one of these on Your nightstand and do You keep Thinking...

I've had my pacemaker for just over 3 months now. I am on no medication. I'm doing great except that all of a sudden my ankles keep swelling up. I have never had this issue before , even with 2 pregnancies, one with twins. Has anyone else had any issues with swelling? Is it possible it is side affect of of my pacemaker rate being raised - that's really the only thing that has changed. I used to sit at 40 bpm and they raised it to 60 to try and stop the arrhythmias I kept getting. It worked for...

I went to my cardiologist ( NEW one) on Monday. I asked about my pm. He told me it does not "run" all the time, just when needed
That seems odd to me. I was diagnosed with CHF and cardiomyopithy, with an RF of 15%, in June 2015 and was told that a PM was needed and if it didn't work a full transplant would be necessary. If the Pm was necessary, when does it work ? I recently went to the hospital for "major" pain (which they could not diagnose, why), but they did an echo/scan and it seems t...

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
