I went to a pain management doctor today. I've never been to one before. I've been having greater hip pain the past 6 months or so but now my lower back pain is off the charts.
My BP today was 160/101. My BP is usually in the normal range. The Nurse said she could tell I was in a lot of pain and that my BP confirmed it.
The doctor wanted me to get an MRI. I told him I can't have one so he is sending me for a CT. He thinks it is osteoarthritis of the lumbar most likely due to the OA of the hip and the way I had to walk the past few years. It has thrown off my gait, balance, etc.
So ironically, I left without managing any pain. LOL
My question is does it sound correct that my BP is high due to the level of pain now?

Hello GH. If you do a search you will see that pain can elevate blood pressure ( something to do with the sympathetic nervous system apparently )
An additional factor is that ibuprofen and some other OTC painkillers may also raise your BP
I hope that you can successfully treat the pain.

And thank you to the others for your private messages too.
Taking a dosepac of prednisone now for the inflammation. Something just isn't right but what do I know....I'm just the patient.
This stuff makes you very tired....just hope it works.

The evening after I had by CRT-D implanted, I had some pain and respiratory problems. This caused an immediate elevation of my BP. The nurse was very experienced in post op management and told me right away that the BP elevation was most probably "pain driven" and it was.
