Biotronik Eluna

I posted the other day. I really appreciate Your responses! I have another question. Do any of You have a Biotronik Eluna? Do any of You have a monitor(?) on Your nightstand? It has a bright green light which is bothersome when trying to go to sleep! It also kind of wigs Me out when I look at it, Hoping it doesn't start blinking, which I guess indicates a problem! I just try to ignore it, but sometimes it bothers Me. Does anyone else have one of these on Your nightstand and do You keep Thinking about it? Just Wondering! Thanks, Pastor Mike

not biotronik but...

I just got my first home monitor last week, St Judes Merlin. It has a light on it that's pretty bright. The tech said I could throw a towel over it so the light doesn't bother me. She also said I could store it under the bed if I didn't want it next to the bed. I didn't really want the monitor at all because I don't want a daily reminder in my face every day when I wake up, so I wrapped it in a towel and shoved it under the bed. No reminder now :o) They haven't called yet so I assume it's fine in its new home.

Thanks!

Thanks for Your responses! I think I will put a light towel over it!

I have the monitor

I have a Biotronik Evia but I'm sure the bedside monitor is the same. I have it set up so it doesn't face directly at me, it faces the same direction that the bed faces so sideways from my view as I'm laying in bed. I also have other things in front of the monitor that block out the green light (chapstick, bottle of Melatonin, etc), not purposefully to block the light, I just never really thought about it. My alarm clock gives off more light than the green light. Truthfully I don't even notice the monitor anymore except every now and then to wipe the dust off it. It would probably be days before I would notice if the light changes color. I've had my PM for almost 3 years now.

Monitor

I've had a home monitor for the past 35 years. The only time I really notice the light is when my home monitor turns it on and wakes me to stop my snoring.

My Cardiologist and I had this discussion recently. He noted how he wished they would stop giving out home monitors. The vast majority of patients don't need one and all it does is drive the patients crazy who in turn call him at all hours panicked over nothing. What was also interesting is that patients who might benefit from a home monitor want nothing to do with them.

I know I'll have a bunch of the sanctimonious attack me but fact is I have/had a CRT-D and my heart is so shot they keep begging me to get a transplant. My EF is 15-20, I have had multiple heart attacks, I have end stage heart failure, suffer many rhythm problems including V-Fib, and yet I know by the time anyone gets a signal from a stupid bedside monitor it would be too late for them to get to me anyway. My defibrillator is there to protect me, just as others pacemakers are.

Maybe time to relax and stop worrying so much. Enjoy your life and if that bedside monitor bothers you, it might be time to consider throwing it out the window.
