Precautions for PM Medtronic A3DR01

Had A3DR01 implanted on Mar.17/16 (only 1 lead attached for now) and to this point everything has gone better than expected. No pain, and walked 1/4 mile with no problem. I read an article in "www.medtronic.ca/patientresources" that outlines what you can and can't do and one of the things is not to operate a chain saw. My family Doc thinks this may be old and if I am concerned wear rubber gloves when operating the saw.
Has anyone had experience with using a chain saw after the implant ?

Chainsaw

I have used a chainsaw on many occasions without any problems. I also use a 2 cycle weed eater and blower frequently. I have also worked very closely with 11,000 volt switch gear and synchronous motors of various voltages up to 3,500 h.p. all without problems.
I am on my 4th dual lead Medtronic pacemaker now,

No problems

Have Medtronic pacemaker too. Used one of those electrical chainsaws that had the warning label - don't use with pacemaker. No problems. Cut down 30' tree, then cut the small pieces with the same saw. No problems.

I think they were concerned with a gasoline engine and the make/break on the flywheel that would emit EMI / RF signals that could possibly disrupt the pacemaker. Know of two people with pacemakers who have used them without any problems.

Medtronic says to stay 6 to 12 inches from a running electrical / gasoline motor. In most cases you'd have to be hugging the engine while it was running before the pacemaker would be close enough to theoretically have problems.

I put a post on the forum where I forgot about having my pacemaker and was leaning on a large DeWalt electrical drill right on top of my pacemaker while it was running - no problems.

Thanks guys. I'll feel a lot more confident attacking some cutting I need to do as soon as I have the OK to do some work est. end of April.
