I've had my pacemaker for just over 3 months now. I am on no medication. I'm doing great except that all of a sudden my ankles keep swelling up. I have never had this issue before , even with 2 pregnancies, one with twins. Has anyone else had any issues with swelling? Is it possible it is side affect of of my pacemaker rate being raised - that's really the only thing that has changed. I used to sit at 40 bpm and they raised it to 60 to try and stop the arrhythmias I kept getting. It worked for the arrhythmia thank god.

Swelling of ankles

The above comments are correct. Maybe you are having water retention and need water pills. Also if you have an arithima you should ask your doctor if you should be on blood thinking meds to avoid blood clots.

Hi, Lisa
Swelling needs to be evaluated by your medical care. The swelling can be heart and kidney related or have other cause. You may need medication, diet changes and/ or routine changes to get the swelling under control. The sooner you can find the cause, the better the results. Let us know how you are doing.

Blood thinners
by Lisalac - 2016-03-17 03:03:54
Arrhythmia is now pretty much under control. I have super low blood pressure so did not want me on any blood thinners because it might lower your blood pressure. Doctor is fitting me in next week. I had some lung tests done this week too to ensure there's not somethin going on with them. Heart is working good but I cough something fierce with I breath in deeply so they're checking for asthma. Kinda always feel like I have chest cold.
You know you're wired when...
You have rhythm.
