It has been a year since I had my PM implant and I have been dreading having my yearly mammogram. There seems to be so many unexplained or questionable lumps and bumps after the PM implant and I really wanted to get checked out. I just feared that the examiner would do some of that painful stretching and squishing and that it would hurt and perhaps injure the PM leads or push the PM out of the pocket. It turned out to be a piece of cake. No problems with pain in the PM area and the examiner...

Hi everyone
This might sound a little weird.. But everytime I go into tesco (supermarket in the UK) the alarms that go off on shop lifters keep on going off when I walk through!! It's never a tag or anything in my bag that sets them off as it still does it when I walk into the store and now I don't even take my bag in because it's really embarrassing that people think I'm shop lifting. Can pacemakers set these alarms off? Also can they interfere with the device? I always feel really weary...

Hello everyone. I had my pacemaker implanted September 2015. I am a married mother of four. I don't have any support from from Husband who feels that this is my fault. I have been healthy my entire 43 years. In August 2015 I had a few episodes of fainting and went to the ER 3 times. Did a Tilt Table test and my heart stopped for 28 seconds. In September I was diagnosed with "Bradycardia with a Pause". I am in need of some major support because I am feeling so alone. Does anyone know of a support...

I'm a 54 year old male, diagnosed with congestive heart failure in January, and I just had a biventricular CRT-D implanted this morning. Now I'm just idling in the hospital until they let me go home tomorrow.

I have one of the newestate pace makers fitted 2 months ago and would be interested to hear from anyone who also has one. This pacemaker IS described as the world's smallest full body mri condional pacemaker.
My history is my first pace maker was implanted on 3 January 2003. Had a successful ablation in 2008 because this left me in sinus rythum for 7 years and because the need for A MRI scan I have my pacemaker completely removed in October 2014. As atrial fibrillation can re...

I had my Boston Scientific DDDR Pacemaker installed about a year and a half ago due to bradycardia. My low rate was set at 60bpm. Everything has been going fine since , then. Still a few episodes of afib, but my heart rate always returned to 60 when I returned to sinus rhythm (usually just a few minutes). About two days ago I had another afib episode and my heart rate spiked to about 105 for a few minutes.
This time however, something strange has happened. I seemed to return to sinus rh...

I'm 53 and got my 3rd PM this morning. The leads were fine so the Dr only had to replace the generator and glue me back together. I pace 100% of the time and have a resting, non-pacing HR of about 30 BPM. The procedure took about 45 minutes and I was awake for the second 1/2 of it. Kinda cool.
So, I checked in at 7:00, in the OR by 8:30 and home by 10:30. Not bad.

Good afternoon,
Has anyone been on long term Amiodarone?
If so, have you experience any significant side effects?
For example, lung or breathing issues?
Thanks!

Hi, one year ago yesterday I had biventricular with defibrillator. My ejection fraction has gone from 25 to 60!! Wow I've never felt better. My health has never been better.
However, I need to lose about 5- 8kg, I work in an office, like walking, do Pilates but can't shake off the kilos. I do confess to eating a bit of chocolate( not that much, a few squares per night). Any tips? Should I do Jenny Craig? Wright Watchers? Lite n Easy? Help!

Hi all,
I had a pacemaker installed July 2014. Since then life has become far more enjoyable - I now breath normally (no gasping for air) and sleep through the night (no more waking up 4 or 5 times per night) - so now I have a more stable energy base.
Still adjusting to the change in lifestyle around what I can and cannot do. I find heavy electrical equipment and machinery that create lots of vibrations cause the pacemaker to misbehave resulting in feeling like crap.
But overall t...

New member here. I'll see if I can summarize.
B. Scientific implant 2013. Age 57 now. No problems until the last 3 weeks. Started to notice my left thoracic cavity/heart having heavy jumping a few weeks ago. 10/31 b.p. very low with h.r. at 60 and below. My pm limits are 70/130. This past week I got admitted for heavy squeezing and pain (atrial flutter and low b.p.). Finally got my cardiophysiologist to listen and understand the heavy jumping in left thoracic region. He thinks it's pacemake...

Hi to everyone who's going to read this message. I'm not sure from where to start, but as you can read from my previous messages, I've been diagnosed with congenital AV block 3rd degree, since 2007, and I wasn't put on thr pacemaker list so I don't have a pacemaker. However, then I had 21 years, and now I'm 29. I got married and I want to have children. So, is there someone who can say a word or two to me, what to do. My doctor said that because of the absence od the symptoms there is no need of...

I'm 53 and fit (except for my ticker). Back in March I was told that my PM was running low on juice and that I'd probably have to have it replaced around the end of the year. Well, Monday is the day. My last PM came with a lead removal and replacement, so this one will be much less invasive as they'll reuse the old leads. With luck, I'll be home before lunch.
That's all. Just sharing.

I have bradycardia. My doctor hasn't recommended a pacemaker yet, but it looks likely. Most of the comments I've read at this site are very positive, patients tend to feel much better after getting a PM, and most wearers find them to be trouble-free. But a few people have commented that they actually feel worse with their new, faster heartrate and they wish they had left well enough alone. Here's my question:
If a doctor or patient is on the fence about whether to implant a pac...

Haven't been here in eons it seems! I have been doing great since open heart surgery in March of this year for a maze procedure for afib. I've had my pm since last year for SSS and was until Monday completely off blood thinner and heart meds. On Monday of this week I went in for cataract surgery everything was a go, they'd gooped my eye and got to the operating room then when they gave me the sedative, a versed and fentanyl combination, my heart rate went crazy as high as about 150-160 then back...

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
