Hello all,
Just seeking some advice please.
Had a 2 lead PPM Implanted in January 2014.
Recovered well with a new lease of life with all the energy I have.
Last saw Cardiologist in Sept. He said the interrogation showed I was using the atrial lead 80% of the time.
Told him that every so often I get like a twitching sensation which at times is uncomfortable. It is sort of just to the left of the sternum half way down. I guess it is the ventricular lead which, although on...

Hi All,
I will be 9 days post pacemaker replacement surgery tomorrow.
As I have been good and not lifting my arm, my hair is a total mess.
I am planning to have a wash and blow at the hairdressers tomorrow to make myself feel better.
Is anyone aware of any issue with using a hair dryer straight after replacement?
Thanks peeps x

I thought that would get your attention, especially all you dog-owners !
As a runner , I like to get out every few days and take the PM for a spin, test its Rate Responsiveness and enjoy the fresh air .
So I was happily doing my usual 3 miles through the local woods this morning when an old woman and a DOG appeared !
" It won't hurt you " she said as the love-of-her life came bounding towards me and started growling and jumping up and pawing me. It was fortunately a sm...

I had a Biotronik dual lead installed about 9-20-14 on my R side due to complications in getting leads in L arteries.
This was done because I had SOB,dizzyness, falling, and can't climb stars. Went to hospital and they found a heart beat of 40 and lower chambers only beating every other beat sometime and sometimes not at all!. Basically they found a A/V heart block and i think its called sinoscope.along with an abnormal thyroid. I did pass two lyme disease tests but think i should get...

I'm so glad I found this site. I'm a 68 year old female and I had aortic valve replacement in 2006 and now am preparing for a pacemaker due to irregular heartbeat. I have a consultation appointment with a doctor my cardiologist referred me to next Tuesday.
After reading some of the posts here, I know I've come to the right place. I'm nervous about the procedure and would like any suggestions any of you may have.

My friend recently went in for a colonoscopy. While she was waiting for the procedure, her heart rate soared to 150 and she was admitted into the hospital for several days. Now it appears she has a-fib full time. She has been taking medication and blood thinners also. Previous to this, her heart was fine. I had a conversation with two of the nurses in the endoscopy unit. Both mentioned that it is not unusual for patients to get a-fib because of the colonoscopy prep. It is usually temporary, but...

The news media creating more hysteria.
I don't think we need to worry but here is just a bit of the article:
The DHS is also reviewing suspected vulnerabilities in implantable heart devices from Medtronic and St Jude Medical, according to two people familiar with the matter.
They said the probe was based in part on research by Barnaby Jack, a well-known...

Hi just wondering if any of you know what would cause multiple pvc's and my ventricle pacing percentage to over double. I have had a dual chamber pacemaker for 12 years and am having trouble with pvc's to the point of going to the ER while there pacer interrogation showed my ventricular pacing went from 22% to 50% in a 8 month period just wondering if any of you know what that means since er doc couldn't answer and neither could pacemaker tech.

I just spent a month touring China. I've had my pacemaker for 4 years and am 71.
Security in China is very high. Most of the sites we visited required walking through metal detectors. Lots of fun trying to get across that I could not walk through the detector. Next time I will have a note written in Chinese saying that I cannot go through the metal detector.
I've traveled through North America and Europe and every time I was patted down it was done by a man. I always ask to have a cu...

I had a Doctors appointment today because my "good hip" and opposite knee have suddenly become worse. I usually just push through it but this past week the pain has been off the charts for some reason.
The official diagnosis: I want to quote the Doctor so I get it right..... I have "crappy arthritis genes". That's the medical term.
He has a crystal ball too. He said there is more metal in my future. (Trying to hold off on that prediction).
Accordin...

PART 2! Your Help Is Needed
The first questionnaire suggests that many pacemaker and ICD patients may have liked more support and information at implant. As a result I have some more questions (I am really sorry) but if you do have the time to fill this in it may lead to more consistency in the information and support offered to people with ICD's and Pacemakers in the future! Thank You in advance

Thanks in advance for info.
