Hi Everyone,
Today is my 2 month PM implant anniversary. I am happy to say I am doing really well and almost back to 100% of where I was before my surgery. Since I had no symptoms prior (no shortness of breath, no extreme fatigue, no exhaustion while exercising - NOTHING) except 2 syncope episodes one evening, I really don't feel much different and since I just have 2nd degree heart block my Dr. told me it would be that way. He said since I was in good health to begin with my re...

Hello,
I guess I will follow suite, I am new to the site and didn't realize it even was even available. I am 53, I have a Metronics Defibrillator that was implanted May 4, 09. The only issue I have had is that my breast implant ruptured shortly after. In Nov 2013, I went for routine mammogram, had ultrasound and biopsy Dec 2013 and then on Jan 2, 2014 I was told Stage 1 cancer. I had left breast tissue removed March 2014 and they implanted a tissue expander. I have had several episode...

Altitude Training v Badly adjusted PM

We all know the theory of altitude-training where top-level athletes train at high altitudes. They go off to somewhere like the Great Rift Valley in Kenya where their bodies become accustomed to low levels of oxygen. They then run like crazy when they return to lower altitudes for their athletic events.
My pacemaker gurus, in their infinite wisdom quickly identified that :-
i) I am not a top-level athlete and
ii) I cannot fly over to Kenya because my wife says...

Hi!
just joined today because I have been searching for an answer to a question I have online and came upon this group that I never knew existed! Happy to join - I am 41 and on my 2nd pacemaker...my first was at 27 y/o.
This is my question: I have been having severe lower back issues the last several months that are getting worse. I had a CT scan and I just know that they'll *want* an MRI, but that's obviously not going to happen. I like to be informed before I see the doctor and...

Warmest wishes, prayers and good thoughts go with you today as you get your PM word of advice--remember to ask for ice pack when you get back to room. It will really help! You'll be ok and feeling sooo much better!! at least that was my experience!!

I had a pacemaker fitted just 10 days ago for 2-1 heart block which showed up on a tread mill test. Shortly afterwards I noticed that I had a tightness across my throat rather like indigestion. I have since spoken to the pacemaker clinic who said the problem was not related to the pacemaker. I was asked if I had angina? I said not as far as I knew and I certainly had not been told that I had anything other than the heart block. I queried the suggestion that the tightness might not be due to the...

Hi everyone, happy to have found this site. It's really relieving to read the messages. I am 38 and just had my pacemaker implantation last March 5th. Days before my procedure I have browsed the postings here and was well-informed on how it is to become a "wired" individual and it gives me enough courage to face it. My recovery is doing great and just had my 2nd interrogation last week. The wires are stable and still have 13.5 years...

I had my staples removed today. I feel like I'm doing surprisingly better than I had inticipated. My last surgery I really struggled with. This lead removal, ablation, and pm revision, has been much more tolerable. I am 10 days post op today, and am ready to start taking on the world. Ji still have some discomforts, but wrapping myself in ice seems to do the trick. My groin area hurts the most, but this to shall pass. Hope everyone else is on the mend. I look forward to attempting some future 5...

Hello there.
Am scheduled for a c-section tomorrow morning at week 35 preg after difficult weeks of the entire pregnancy. I had uncontrolled svt and increased pvcs throughout my pregnancy. I'm not on any medication right now..metroprolol was stopped at the beginning of the 3rd trimester. My doc has prescribed ceftriaxone 1mg half an hr prior to my surgery to decrease the risk of infection to the heart since I v a pacemaker. Anyone with similar experience? Am very worried about the whole p...

Hello Everyone,
Just turned 57 in February and had a Medtronic DTBA1D4 CRT-D with Pacing lead implanted March 19, 2014. I was diagnosed with nonischemic viral cardiomyopathy with a dilated left ventricle and a moderate to severe regurgitating mitral valve. My EF was only 15% when diagnosed (Nov 2013) and increased to 20-25% pre-implant using meds.
They also discovered I had bundle branch block LV and RV out of synchronization.
After seeing four Cardio Doctors they settled o...

I've had my ICD for a year due to ventricular tacchycardia. The night I was brought into the ER, the doc told my wife no caffeine or alcohol for me...ever....again....it's toxic.
Haven't had either but it would be nice to have a glass of wine on a holiday or birthday...I'm not talking every night or every week, but on a rare occasion.
Over the last year, the docs have said it would be OK to have a glass on a rare occasion but I am petrified, thinking my heart and ICD will g...

Last night not long after I went to sleep I woke up with sort of numb arms, I went back to sleep and didn't have a repeat of that feeling.
Today when I was driving my car, I had been driving for over half an hour when I suddenly felt like I was going to pass out. My vision was all wavey in front of me. I was on a four lane highway but luckily was able to get to the kerb and turn into a side street,
My heart was thumping wildly and I still felt like I might faint, even thou...
