Hello there.
Am scheduled for a c-section tomorrow morning at week 35 preg after difficult weeks of the entire pregnancy. I had uncontrolled svt and increased pvcs throughout my pregnancy. I'm not on any medication right now..metroprolol was stopped at the beginning of the 3rd trimester. My doc has prescribed ceftriaxone 1mg half an hr prior to my surgery to decrease the risk of infection to the heart since I v a pacemaker. Anyone with similar experience? Am very worried about the whole procedure since my pulse rate cannot behave now. My resting heart rate ranges from 120 to 170 sometimes. Any positive though will be appreciated.

You got your baby this far along.....good job!
I've had 4 C-sections, pre ICD. The first one was an emergency so after that...back in the 1800's ;-)....the thinking was once a C-section always a C-section.
Like any surgery, make sure you get up and walk around as soon as you can. It will alleviate any uncomfortable gas buildup.
Prayers for you, your baby and Doctor. Probably by this time tomorrow you will be holding your new baby in your arms!

Antibiotics

A pacemaker alone is absolutely no indication for antibiotic prophylaxis. In fact, nowadays very, very few heart conditions require antibiotics prior to surgeries, dentist appointments etc. A pacemaker alone is considered to be a low risk, and low risk patients have never been advised to take antibiotics prior to medical procedures according to all guidelines published for instance by the AHA.
