atorvastatin

I started taking Atorvastatin shortly after my PM implant, and I've not had any trouble. I doubt that the medication is the problem. Sounds as though there is something else at work. Go see your doctor.

If the pain in your chest is getting worse, don't wait until tomorrow.

I know you are in the UK; go to your local A & E as soon as possible

It may be nothing at all but better safe than sorry !

I doubt very much that it is a statin side-effect. ( but anything is possible ! )

I've just looked up the side-effects and more than 1 in every 1000 patients taking Atorvastatin do experience chest pain.

I am curious has your Dr taken you off statins completely or given you a different statin ?

Interestingly , if you look at the data, there is very little evidence that high cholesterol levels are a risk factor for women unless they have had previous plumbing problems of the heart.

The arguments in favour of women taking statins at all are far less convincing than they are for men !

Glad that you are OK

wants me to take a rest from statin, for a few weeks, will then test my levels & decide if he will put me back on them. My cholesterol is genic.

I have always had a lot of muscle & joint pain with statins. My cardio recommended Crestor low dose 1-2 times/wk. So I am taking 5 mg 2/wk for several months & cholesterol is coming down & no pain. Google it & you should bring up several articles from Journal of Clinical Cardiology & Cleveland Clinic verifying the low dose affect.

Hope this helps,

Janet
