a bit scared

Hello. I just got home from the cardiologist and will be going to have a pacemaker put in on the 29th. I am 46yr old female who these last 2 1/2 yrs became very fit and healthy. I power lift, olympic lift and train crossfit style at times. I also run. When I got healthy and fit is when I started having the bradycardia and delays. The cardiologist recommended a new pacemaker by a German company (I think Biotronik) that has small leads (I will have 2). He said no lifting for 1-2 months which is go...

pleasantly surprised

today I got a phone call from the cardio's head office manager (there are 4-5 offices and 14 doctors on the heart team).
the call was in regards to my phone call to the office on tuesday being ignored. I had called at 9 am to complain of pain at PM area. 6 hours later I had to call back. the receptionist made lots of excuses about why I was not called back. I told the doctor the next day in detail about it, and he seemed concerned and upset. I really did not expect any follow up. But the...

Implantation cancelled :(

Hi all, I was due to have my PM implanted this afternoon, but received a call yesterday telling me the op has been delayed by 3 weeks. So frustrated as I arranged my life around today and now have to re-arrange my work off duty ( I was looking forward to a few weeks off;). But most frustrating is the mental challenge. I was psyched up and ready to have the op and now I'm having to put it out of my mind ggggrrrrr.
On the up side, I'm still very greatful to our wonderful NHS for supplying me...

You can't make this stuff up

3 years ago I had my first colonoscopy at 53 yrs. of age. At that time, they found and removed 3 polyps. I was told due to the polyps, I should come back in 3 years for another colonoscopy. So last month I went for the follow-up.

The Doctor said there were 2 polyps last time, not 3 and the "new guidelines" are 5 years unless there are 3 or more polyps. I stated I had 3 polyps the last time. (That should have been my first clue. I have the letter with the results to prove it)...

Need Help

hi I m Rohan and I desperately need help on my father's condition. He is 70 years old. He needs a pacemaker, single chamber, but we dont have that money to purchase one. I am the eldest in the broad of 2 girls, I want my dad to live more years, but we cannot do anything, the wages that I received from my job is only fit for our basic needs. It will cost around 300,000 here in the Philippines, and we cannot afford it. I already go to NGOS, and government offices that deals with it but none have I...

I"m a gangster..

Well, I kind of look like one now. After 7 months post op, my scars are here to stay. I have 1 on my left chest where the PM is and 2 in the middle of my chest where they inserted the holter to monitor me before the PM put in. Now when I take off my shirt and walk around, people think that I'm a tough and wise guy.
All I have to do now is to go get some tattoos around my chest and I'm good to go. :-)). Have a nice day.

miniaturised, wireless pacemaker

Interesting article..

Len

A miniaturised, wireless pacemaker that can be inserted into the body without invasive surgery has been given approval for use in the European Union.

Developed by US start-up Nanostim, the device is designed to be implanted intravenously directly in the heart.

It is less than 10% of the size of a conventional pacemaker and uses a built-in battery.

Experts said it was an "exciting development" but at a very ear...

Another Newbie

Hi everyone,

Another newbie here (43 yrs old) and I am so glad to have found all of you! I've been on the site and reading posts for the last week and realize I have a lot to learn because up until just over 2 weeks ago I didn't know anything about PM's or anyone that had one. Everything happened so fast, I went from being completely fit and active (runner and healthy nutritional follower) to having my PM implant on Oct. 1st. September 26th my heart went crazy and I went to the ER. I...

icd implant interferance?

Hello All! I'm new to this site and want to thank you all in advance for the postings - they really helped me realize that a lot of what I've been going through has been normal.

I had a Boston Scientific ICD implant four weeks ago and I'm getting ready to go back to work. I'm a grounds man at a public school. This is the time of year when we use backpack leaf blowers and chainsaws. My ICD booklet says nothing closer than 12 inches. I was wondering if anyone knows if I'll be oka...

Replacement box

Hi there = Again I have been given another date for my replacement box. 2 weeks time I should be a new woman lol lol lol. Apparently the cardiac clinic did not inform my pacing clinic that I needed a replacement hence no date was fixed. On visiting pacing clinic today I was given the date and was told that the consultant wants to do the op himself. Should I be highly honored or could there be a reason. He told me few months ago that i am having one that does everything. Does he not tru...

Is this normal?

Hi all,

This might sound like a crazy question, but since I had my pacemaker inplanted in January 2012, from time to time, only when I come back from my jog, I will get a sensation of sneezing and feelling like I'm going to vomit at the same time.

Sometimes the sneeze will allievate the feeling of vomiting, sometimes it dosen't. I always make sure I'm well hydrated, before and after my jogs. It just happened again today, and the weather was perfect for a run, no humidity....

New potential Pacemaker recipient

Hi all,

Hoping to get some insider tips and support. I am a 31-year-old mother of five (youngest is two months old) who is potentially looking at needing a pacemaker. Basically my symptoms are that my resting HR went from about 85-90 (nonpregnant) to about 50-60 now. My heart rate is normal when I am
up and about, but I notice the sharp decrease when I am resting and in bed at night.

So far I have had an ekg, echo and a 24-hour holter as well as bloodwork. The ekg wa...
