The really hot scooter is the knee scooter for people w/ non-weight bearing allowances on feet/ankles. They are great little devices & a lot of fun. Unfortunately the brakes leave a lot to be desired.
Our #2 Granddaughter had a club foot reconstructed while she was a HS student & was in that non-weight bearing state for better than 3 months.
Her mother kept her in a wheel chair when she went back to school rather than allowing her to use a knee scooter. When asked why, she told me "No way am I going to allow Dana to use a knee scooter at school. She's already going wild in that wheel chair. I can just see her now doing wheelies down the guard rails on the outside steps of the building." Knowing Dana, she was probably correct.
You have to realize the outlook on life that this girl has - to her chess is to be played as a contact sport. She played football w/ the boys when 12 yrs old. She was a quarterback & free safety. selected as MVP on her team at the end of the season. Gonna have her DNA checked - I'm not sure that she is a member of my family, even though she is a carbon copy of her mother, father & grandmother.
Cheers!

...Did it all the time while recovering from foot & abdominal surgery.
It's safe as long as you don't do wheelies down the stair railings in stair wells! Wheeeeeee!
