I"m a gangster..

Well, I kind of look like one now. After 7 months post op, my scars are here to stay. I have 1 on my left chest where the PM is and 2 in the middle of my chest where they inserted the holter to monitor me before the PM put in. Now when I take off my shirt and walk around, people think that I'm a tough and wise guy.
All I have to do now is to go get some tattoos around my chest and I'm good to go. :-)). Have a nice day.

I was thinking when I'm healed up it might be fun to get a heartbeat tattoo or high voltage tattoo near the implant site :)

Mini-maze

Hey Duke,

I will take you on. I had mini-maze surgery 21 months ago, you get 7 holes in your chest, plus my sinus node went wonky so I got an 8th hole for a temporary pacemaker; then I got the "permanent" pacemaker which I ended up keeping only 10 months because my sinus node woke back up. So the ninth scar is my former PM site.

Two days post op one nurse said I looked like I lost a knife fight. Felt like it too.

Be proud-

You forgot Duke999, gangsters only shave every other day and wear a lite cig in the corner of their lip. No gangster for you, just that nice gentleman with the scars and tattoos that never wears a shirt. HOPE ITS A HECK OF A LOT WARMER THERE THAN HERE. Jean

The Horrible Truth...

by donr - 2013-10-18 11:10:46

EB Fox: The horrible truth is that you DID lose a knife fight! Go read my "Some Tough Love for Newbies."

How do we get that point through to people who expect to jump off the OR "Table," run out the door searching for Arnold Schwartzenegger to start taking on the world. Even if your PM works like a champ, & fixes everything, you STILL have to get over the lost knife fight.

An analogy for people in the manufacturing business - or any for that matter - the first incision that gains entry into the body cavity is like the overhead costs - you have them whether or not you ever produce anything that makes a profit for you. AND - they MUST also be paid.

My husband says I should get a tattoo that says "battery operated" or something on those lines!
Good Luck to you
