Is this normal?

Hi all,

This might sound like a crazy question, but since I had my pacemaker inplanted in January 2012, from time to time, only when I come back from my jog, I will get a sensation of sneezing and feelling like I'm going to vomit at the same time.

Sometimes the sneeze will allievate the feeling of vomiting, sometimes it dosen't. I always make sure I'm well hydrated, before and after my jogs. It just happened again today, and the weather was perfect for a run, no humidity.

I was wondering if a lead could be pressing on a nerve that might trigger this sensation.

I do not take any meds.

I'm just curious, if anyone has ever had this kind of sensation?

Time to see the Cardiologist

Hi Moner,

I'm "just" an RN and I do not know what kind of device you have, but a lead might be in a poor position or your PM may need adjustment. You need to see your Cardio and have your PM interrogated to make sure everything is where it should be. Sometimes a nerve or the diaphragm can be stimulated and cause strange issues although I have never had a patient who needed to sneeze. I have had patients who had hiccups, vomited without warning, twitching abdominal muscles....but they all had ICD's. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi Danise,

Thanks for your input, what do you mean "just" an RN, that a very honorable job.

I have an appointment next week with the EP, to see if everything is in place.
