I met a runner on his third pm doing the full marathon this weekend who told me about Medtronics Global Heroes program. They sponsor runners with devices-including pm's and icd's -entries and travel expenses for the Minneapolis marathon and 10K . He was chosen for this but had already committed to the Maine marathon. Your device does not need to be from Medtronic to apply. Global Heroes website has more info and some very inspiring stories.

Hi again.
Since my last post (palpitations after pacemaker)my daughter has begun taking up this squatting position again after very short spells of exertion. We were at the park on Sunday and she only ran for a couple of minutes playing with her brother and she was immediately bent over and breathless, then she started squatting down to the floor which we haven't witnessed her doing since 2011! The question is,do I wait 2 weeks or call them now? She's just missed a swimming competition as she...

Well folks I had a successful MRI. The St Jude technician travelled from Melbourne to my home town some 300 km to be present at the MRI. He put i the PM into safe mode and made some other adjustments. He monitored the pacemaker/heart rate throughout the procedure. At the end he simply put it back into operational mode and all is well.
My pacemaker was installed in January this year and is MRI safe. I am able to say as I survived without any problems.
Cheers
Bas

I have 30 days left to make a decision about a new type of pacemaker, this one has been recommended, does anyone know about this one. BIV-Pacemaker-CRT The Dr wants me to have an AV NODE Ablation six weeks after and thinks this pacemaker would work best with this procedure. Any thoughts out there on this, or anyone that has this type.

I had to have my pacemaker replaced after only 4 years because it could not be adjusted to some changes in my heart rate. My new pacemaker was put in in March, 2013 and I have been feeling great ever since. However today, I started experiencing periodic sensations like someone was poking me with a needle around the pacemaker site. It is not constant but a little disconcerting and uncomfortable when it occurs. Is this something that sounds typical?

Hi firstly Thankyou for the replies to my recent message re heart missing beats, I had my pm checked and all was ok with pacemaker ,in fact I only pace at 1percent.
I am still getting missed beats and have just had a thought, this has only just started happening in the last week or so and wondered if it could be conected to the fact that I have been spending up to an hour or more sitting at the computor desk at a bad angle with my mobile phone glued to my ear talking to my son as he's been...

Hi everyone.
I'm new to this site. My story:
I'm 35 and have always had a slow heart rate (40bpm). In April I fainted, and didn't feel well for a couple of days after. Finally called the Dr, they said to go straight to emergency which I did. Was admitted to hospital immediately. Had every test under the sun, and after 4 days in hospital the head of Cardiology said it was beyond him, and I was transferred to another hospital under a Cardiac Electrophysiologist. She had never seen...

Finished my first half marathon after getting my pm June 27! Life with a pm does not mean the end of life as you know it! And I was not demoralized at all by how long it took me to finish, just happy I finished upright and still smiling!

Hi, I'm currently living in Edmonton, Canada. And I am wondering if anyone on here has had any luck with getting the Disability Tax Break on your income taxes. It basically exempts you from having to pay in as much taxes as you normally do.
I'm going to get my doctor to fill out the forum, but would like to hear from members who have tried, whether succesful or not.

It's great to see this club of actual pm "users".
I am a 55 yr old male who just discovered heart problems 5 days ago. I am vigorous and have no symptoms except exercise limitation (no fainting), and no recent change in my health. I am advised to get a pm immediately and I'm unsure of what to do.
My HR (normal until now) is stuck at around 40bpm. Initial EKG was 2:1 AV heart block, a later EKG showed complete HB, a Holter showed both intermittently. A cardiologist ha...

In the past, I've seen posts asking the cost of getting a PM implant. I just got my hospital bill. The total charges were $46,208.50. Medicare paid $8,364.82. The Medicare adjustment was $$36,603.43, which I assume is some sort of "write off". Tricare for Life paid $1,206.34. My portion if $33.91.
The two largest charges out of all of this were $24,677.00 for the PM and $17,602.00 for the OR/Services.

My daughter is 12,has Learning Disability and had a Pacemaker fitted almost 2 years ago for Sick Sinus Syndrome. She had it set at VVI 60 and was fine but at her annual check, they said they needed to reprogram it to VVIR 50-150.All was fine until 4 weeks ago.She swims for a swimming club so does intense training and after her swim sessions she began complaining of her "heart beating" and said she didn't like it.She can communicate well but I don't thi...
