feeling so much better!!!!

My first post..
I'm 47 year old female...
I had my Dual Chamber pacemaker operation 9 days ago...
I had been very unwell for a few months.. Suffering from extreme tiredness, dizziness, faint and just feeling not right... I went to see my dr and asked for blood tests etc to be done ... During consultation my Dr took my heart rate which was very slow at 40 Bpm... from there I was sent to have an ECG , I then wore a Halter meter for the next 24 hours... The next week I had an urgent appointment to see Cardiologist and had an Echocardiogram which showed my heart was very normal but there was a problem with my wiring into my heart...
I then saw Cardiologist again for all results, my halter meter results showed I had even slower heart rate at night when I was sleeping 28 Bpm... no wonder I would wake up with room spinning like I had a hangover most nights...
I was then told I had what is called Sick Sinus Syndrome, and I needed to have a pacemaker .... My first response was to say only old people have those!!!!!
I was scheduled there and then for surgery in 5 days time...
I wasn't at all frightened or nervous about my operation, my Dr informed me of everything that was going to happen and what to expect afterwards... I was just looking forward to feeling well again, I was so unwell...
My operation went extremely well, a lot of discomfort in my left arm for first few days, but then just a little niggle at times...
I saw my Cardiologist for post op yesterday, and he was so pleased with how I am doing.... Everything running beautifully... I feel amazingly well again and did so the next day... It's so amazing how having this simple operation has made me feel so well again just like that!!!! My resting heart rate is now 66 Bpm and I feel like wonder woman..... My operation wound is about 2 inches long and is healing very well with
very minimal bruising!!
I see Dr again in 4 weeks time...
I hope my comments have helped by letting you know a little about me and my story...

Sounds like we have very similar stories, but I'm 58 and have total AV Block.

Glad to hear you're doing so well and sounds like you have a great cardio Dr. That helps a lot.

Getting to know your PM and it's settings was helpful for me. As I increased my activity level I was getting sob and fatiqued, but a simple tweak to a PM setting took care of it.

Have a great day
Kathy

I am happy to hear that you are doing so well and have had no complications. I hope you continue to do well.
Don't try to rush things. You must remember not to raise your arm (elbow area) above the height of your shoulder AND not to carry anything heavier than 10 pounds for the first four weeks. I also was told not to wash or get my incision area wet the first two weeks. Until quite recently, I was concerned that I would continue to feel the pm inside my chest. However, I assume that this was due to some internal healing and swelling because I no longer notice it. So, hang in there and take care. Best of luck to you.

You know you're wired when...

You always have something close to your heart.
