Try this.......
" I went into a pet shop and bought a goldfish..the guy asked .." Do you want an aquarium ?".....
" I just said that I didn't what star sign it is.....I just wanted a goldfish".....
If you don't get this then do not come to the UK...!!..Don, Inga and others, naturally exempt.

... UK humor was not fully appreciated by the Don family while living there. EXCEPT for Spike Milligan.
Now THERE was a nutcase, first class. Was Tommy Cooper around during the period 1979-80?
Our intro to Spike was a guest appearance on US TV on the Muppet Show (sometime before we shipped over the pond), wherein the comment "...more than just a little screwy..." was the understatement of all ages.
However, if those two jokes were typical Cooper jokes, I think we would have enjoyed him.
I am trying to recall what we watched in the comedy line, & the only show that reaches out to grab me other than a series of Spike's shows is "To the Manor Born," w/ Penelope Keith.
We did get hooked on Horse jumping competitions on Sunday afternoons & witnessed the infamous "Backwards Victory sign" given by one competitor after some bad incident. Not having the foggiest idea what we had seen, I had to get my secretary to explain it to me on Mon AM.
Of course, I called her "Wendy Bird" & was forced to explain the origin of that term, as she had not seen the Walt Disney animated flick "Peter Pan," wherein she was called that by the lost boys.
Humor is very culturally oriented & does not always readily translate between them.

Enjoy Bulgaria ! My favourite Tommy Cooper joke :-
I went round to my friend, Ted's house , and asked his wife if I could speak to him .
His wife said " I'm sorry , Ted died at 3 o' clock this morning " and she burst into tears
I said " Did he mention a tin of paint ? "
Ah, there will never be another Tommy Cooper !
Cheers
Ian
