Bas MRI

Well folks I had a successful MRI. The St Jude technician travelled from Melbourne to my home town some 300 km to be present at the MRI. He put i the PM into safe mode and made some other adjustments. He monitored the pacemaker/heart rate throughout the procedure. At the end he simply put it back into operational mode and all is well.
My pacemaker was installed in January this year and is MRI safe. I am able to say as I survived without any problems.
Cheers
Bas

Wow Bas! I have had severe back probs and was told I couldn't have the MRI that was needed. It was 2 yrs ago though. I go to the Royal Melb Heart Clinic in Shepparton for my checks. Might ask them as I'm due next week.
Great to read your post.

I also forgot to say the doctors were running around trying to get the model/serial number of the pacemaker leads....they told me yhis at the last minute. I calmly said why didn't you ask me for my pacemaker card? All the info is on that....would have saved a lot of time lol.

Lizzie I guess you can ask if your PM is MRI safe. What brand do you have? The technician told me the reason why they put the pacemaker into safe mode is that the MRI scanner will take over the pacing on the PM....could make it run faster which I could imagine would be most uncomfortable if not dangerous. I noticed that here in Albury they had to use a different MRI because of the Pacemaker.

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.
