Hello to All:
I had my first pacemaker surgery about 18 months ago for a second degree heart block. I was recently told that my pacemaker was malfunctioning and needed to go back in for surgery. I had my second surgery 6 weeks ago however when they replaced the pacemaker they dislodged the leads and never sutured them back in place. My pacemaker was firing while the leads were dangling in my chest. This continued for over a week before it was discovered. Since this surgery, I have exp...

I have had my pacemaker for about one year, 06/11. I have had a cardio version for A-Fib. I also had a thrombosis in my left arm that was surgically removed 06/11. I continued to have A-Fib off and on. About three weeks ago I started to experience A-Fib day and night. This is very uncomfortable even at night. I went to see my doctor on Wednesday and he wanted me to wear an event monitor for two weeks, then come back to see him. He knows that I have been experiencing A-Fib so why the event...

Hello fellow pacemaker buddies!
I was fitted with a new pacemaker in my left shoulder around last Christmas after previous complications with my old one. But not long after I had recovered from the surgery I began having very odd muscle palpitations; my pec muscles literally jump around under my skin and you can actually see the area by the pacemaker pulsing, my heart starts racing and my breath feels a bit short.
I first thought it only occurred when I exert myself fo...

Hi :) i have had my pacemaker for 11 years now and i got it implanted when i was four and am now 15. Recently i have been experiencing really sharp chest pains around the area of my pacemaker, it has been going on for quite a few months now and i am worried something has gone wrong?
I do have a checkup in a couple of weeks and will be sure to ask.
The pain is getting considerably worse and i'm not sure what to do about it, any suggestions to what is causing my pain?

Has anyone had their pacemaker for over 5 years? I am going on 11 years in December.
In October 2011 I had my gallbladder removed. In January 2012 I started to have pacemaker pain. Since then I have gone to the local ER 2 times and saw my pacemaker doc/nurse 2 times. Has any one young or old ever experienced this?

My 84 year old father was extremely active until about 2 months ago-able to care for his large yard, etc. Suddenly(in May), he started getting extremely winded when simply walking from one room to another, feeling extremely tired, complained of spasms in his right side, and no appetite-lost 23 pounds. He just received his 2nd pacemaker(Medtronic) in 9 years last Thursday. His cardiologist suggested replacement when he noticed my father's side was jumping/having spasms-said this was from a wire t...

My wife had a minor stroke 3 days ago and the ER CAT scan, looking for signs of the stroke, accidentally included below the neck imagery and revealed a mispositioned ventricle lead from a dual lead PM implant a few months ago.
Instead of entering the subclavian vein, the cardiologist entered the subclavian artery and ended up in the left ventricle instead of the right ventricle.
Major open heart surgery is now needed to correct the error, and that has its own risks.

My mother had a pacemaker put in June of 2011. The site became infected and she had to have it removed and placed on the opposite side. The original site is still infected. She has seen wound care specialists, infectious disease dr, and plastic surgeon. She recently had surgery to remove scar tissue however it is again infected. Dr now wants to send her to a cardiovascular surgeon. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? My mom lives in Tarpon Springs Fl. Any recommendations for good ca...

Hello. My husband had a pacemaker placed this past May 31st. The diagnoses for this was repeated synscope since the first episode in January of this yr. No tilt table was ever given as it was said that he was having seisures and was placed on meds. He had a monitor placed on him for 72 hrs which was for seisures, which indicted several pauses because of the heart some in length. He had a pacer placed the following day after the report. The next day they did atilt table. He had alot of diaphoresi...

Hi there, I wrote some time ago about the fact that when I underwent an "upgrade" to a biventricular pacemaker, the cardiologist accidentally put the lead for the right ventricle into the port for the left ventricle and vice versa.
I’d been having awful jolts in my diaphragm and so many adjustments were made and then finally the supposed 3rd lead was turned off but obviously since that was connected incorrectly, the jolts increased and I came close to fainting or wo...

On Sunday my potassium level dropped and I got shocked from my device 2 times. They put me on potassium tablets now. What can I do to make sure this doesn’t happen to me again? I was feeling great all day and all night and the next thing I know I’m getting shocked hoping it was going to be the last day I ever see.
The doctors always say that the device did its job, but I want answers, I want to make sure this won’t happen again.

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone had experienced something similar. Had pacemaker installed 4 weeks ago and now find that I suffer from arrhythmia and fluttering. This was picked up by the pacemaker team after I repeatly complained about feeling ill. Is this common after having pacemaker surgery?
I was given beta blockers which seemed to inprove things for a day or two, but now 7 days later feel much the same. Any comments would be gratefully received.

I had my PM put in 2 weeks ago but now the problem I am having is my pulse, which is 60 when resting, but jumps to 90 as soon as I move. Just getting up will cause it to jump to 90. Is this a setting on the PM that they set as I am wondering if this is causing my dizziness and loss of balance.
Has anyone experienced this?
Thank you
