Hey guys I went to the doctor Friday and as you know I just had an external pacemaker placed and it was to help with my bradycardia .. But now the pm shows I have over 40 epsoides of extremely fast heart beats .. 196 with me just sitting down .. He now says I have tachybrady syndrome .. He said its extremely rare that being 22 and having this so now i not only need the pacemaker but being put on a beta blocker..so I'm just wondering if anyone has any information or anyone can relate to me .. Thankyou as always for reading and responding hope to hear from you guys soon.

Don is right.....
Before my PM I had a rate of 30bpm. And then I had the PM implanted and for some crazy reason I had Tachy episodes of 200bpm only for seconds but here and there so they put me on Beta Blockers... and it really helped.... So hang in there... xxxx
Fast hb and slow hb
by Jax - 2012-07-15 10:07:25
Yes-- I have both. I have a pm for sss and also a fast hb (the call my fast hb afib). I am on beta blockers as well and they help somewhat to keep the fast hb under control. I have been taking BB for many yrs now. I don't seem to have any side effects from it. The pm is great ....keeps my heart in normal sinus rhythm.
I would get dizzy and sometimes pass out. Can't live like that.
There are lots who can relate to tachybrady

They will show up tomorrow, probably.
I can relate to the PM/Beta Blockers part. Not a big deal when you adapt to it. The Beta blocker is to kill the Tachy & induce artificial Brady & the PM is to bring you up to a functional HR.
Good luck to you on the whole procedure.

Not helpful, but sympathetic

Hey Ladybug2, I am new, don't have a PM but found this site because the Dr threw out that word (PM) the other day. I can totally relate to those feelings. I get dizzy, not a roller-coaster feeling but more like low blood sugar dizzy (which is not the problem, I've been checked for diabetes), and short of breath. Can't hardly do anything without getting exhausted, but not sure what is side effects from teh beta blocker. I've been on them since January and just haven't felt any better. The worst is when I feel like Thumper (you know, the rabbit friend from the Disney movie Bambi) is beating on my chest with his foot. All I can do is cough and hope the Drs are right that I'm not going to have a heart attack. J

BP?
by Joleen228 - 2012-07-17 05:07:43
Do they monitor his BP closely?? I've never had BP problems, but for some reason when all of this started, my drugs started interacting with each other in unexpected ways. Drugs that don't mess with BP started to lower my BP. I went from a typical 120/80 to sometimes 60/90 or lower. I couldn't do anything. Just keep calling and calling. Don't worry about "pestering" them, their job is to help your son and if you need to be his advocate, do it. I need to take some of my own advice at the moment, but I don't want to hear what they are going to say. Going through a bit of denial at the moment, so we are going to pretend I am no the proverbial pot calling the kettle black. ;) It took weeks before they figured out why I couldn't stand up. That was part of the reason they figured out my HR was high. Joleen
