I had a pacemaker implant 3 months ago and am having terrible pain at the site as well as my shoulder, down my arm and along the leads. Dr. says he has no idea why and he's done all he can do except take it out. Anyone else experienced this? I'm new to this club and feeling desperate.

Has anyone had trouble with the night checks on the pacemaker. I know for a fact that the night checks were causing a lot of my problems. I demanded that two of them be turned off and requested a printout. found out I have three night checks. Each check does a threshhold test and adjust the amps accordingly. I was having panic attacks with my heart racing out of control. They tried to say it was pacemaker syndrome and tried to put me on pills. I said no and was on a rampage. I hate being contro...

I received my St Jude PM March 18, 2013 and have had great difficukty sleeping ever since.
When I lay down I get muscle and joint pains that affect different areas of my body. I also feel my heart beating fast (heart rate is set for 70 although it was normally in the 50's before the PM).
Could the problem be caused by the PM making the heart rate too fast or could it be one of the medication I am taking (Plavix, Sotalol, Warfarin).
I have to stay up until I am...

Hi ! 2 weeks after Av node ablation and new PM. I got out of the hospital the day after surgery but had to return 3 days later for A-fib and had to be cardioverted. Home now but with paracarditis that is giving me a lot of discomfort. I am not sure how long this recovery is going to take. I feel like there is a giant bubble inside my chest. Bending or lying down causes pain, beleave it our not it hurts to swallow food. Has anyone had this? How long does it take to get on the mend?

On April 10, 2013 I was hospitalized for removal of my pacemaker and leads due to infection at the site. My pacemaker had also shifted to the left from its original site. I've been "unplugged" since the pacemaker/leads were removed. I'm having no ill effects. As of today (4/30) my cardiologist sees no need to replace the pacemaker at this time. I had my pacemaker for 18 months before the site got infected and it had to be removed.

I just had my Defibrillator taken out after a year and a half , I got a Staph Infection that almost took my life with a 107 fever . I just wanted to post this up as I am only 50 and this came on me without any warning. I felt sick on a Friday and by Monday I was in the ER with no clue what was wrong . After testing and almost not makeing it through the night I was sent to Columbia in NY City where the Defibrillator had been put in , There I waited from Thursday till Monday when they removed it....

Hello All,
Hope you are well, and at the very least... on the road to good health :)
I am coming on to my 2 year anniversary, (post SCA and pacemaker implant), at the end of June. There have been a few blips and concerns but overall things are pretty good.
My daughter, (23), received her pacemaker on April 5th. Approximately two to three days later she began to feel pressure and pain in her chest, neck and jaw. Pacemaker setting was adjusted, with no effect on her s...

Has anyone experienced burning at their lead wires? I have had this recently and it felt like a red hot poker there (in my heart)! The medtronics rep did some testing and adjustments at the er, but said there was nothing wrong with the pm.

Hi, I had a Nerve Conduction Test on Feb 14. In addition to the horrible pain, when he was finished, I went into some sort of seizures on the table for about a minute and half. That's a long time when your entire body is jerking! He never said what happened, only that he had hit a nerve(thought that was what he was doing to begin with). I felt horrible. By Sunday, I had to go to ER, I couldn't write, I could barely talk and make sense. They gave me a shot of Ativan and Delauid think it was....

I had a pacemaker fitted followed by AV node ablation just over a year ago .
This weekend I have been having dizzy spells, so I have been checking my pulse rate and found that I have been missing heartbeats similar to when I suffered from permanent AF for the four years previous.
Any one out there had similar problems.

Well,
I've had a problem for a few weeks, finally had my box change and now it is just going down hill : (
During the change they found the V lead was broken in 2, at least that explained the problems I'd been having. So the broken section was removed and the section left in was capped. A new V lead was installed and after some sting problems works well.
The procedure took 2 hours in the end but eventually was done and I was hopeful things would now settle down...
severe neck pain

My mom (74 yrs old) had a PM put in March 14th. For the first week or so she would be exhausted, especially on dialysis days and she had a stiff neck. the exhaustion has passed but now she has terrible pain in her neck. She has tried pain meds, creams, heat, ice, she's visiting a chiropractor and no help.
She was wondering if perhaps the neck pain and the PM could be related. she is making an appointment today with her DR.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
