Well,
I've had a problem for a few weeks, finally had my box change and now it is just going down hill : (
During the change they found the V lead was broken in 2, at least that explained the problems I'd been having. So the broken section was removed and the section left in was capped. A new V lead was installed and after some sting problems works well.
The procedure took 2 hours in the end but eventually was done and I was hopeful things would now settle down. So that afternoon they discharged me and I went home.
About an hour after getting home I went pre-syncope, was pacer was going nuts and I didn't know why. Back to the hospital I went, they admitted me and next day interrogated the device, turns out the AV delay was set wrong, they adjusted it and said should now be okay.
They did however get very worried about the old lead, a chest x-ray was done, waiting for an echo ATM and they will then decide if they are going to try and extract a lead that has been in for 10 years.
Last night however I had a really scary episode, my PM kicked in at 100bpm and then my heart rapidly accelerated to 185 bpm, felt like I was having a heart attack, my fingers started to the and I started to shake. After about ten minutes the rate started to drop back and they then got around to getting me back on the ECG, it showed I was Tacy but said it as sinus. The doctors seem to not be worried about it at all but it scared the life out of me.
I was so hopeful things were going well and now it seas to be falling apart : (

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
Thanks

Thank you for the reply, I know I am getting decent care but the thought of having a 10 yr old lead extracted is rather worrying.
We have now pulled the telemetry from last night and I'm told the rapid heart rate was not being paced. I'm now left wondering if I'm having Mitral valve problems but won't know either way until they get my echo done. (Waiting for it for over 24 hours now).
I am wondering if the episode was really a panic attack, but I've never had one before and was sat relaxed when it kicked off.
Does anyone on here have any experience of similar issues?
