I'm scheduled to have my second replacement surgery in 3 weeks. I'm also having my lower lead replaced at the same time. I remember when I had my very first pacemaker pacemaker surgery 14 years ago (age of 19) my recovery was super quick. When I had my first replacement surgery 7 years ago I had the longest recovery and was in the worst pain due to all the scar tissue. So I'm just curious what I should expect for this surgery? Anyone else experience this too? Or have had 3 pacemaker surgeries? I...

Thanks for prayers and comments. My surgery went well and I am now home and resting. My would seems awfully red. I have 4 layers of closures with glue on top. Does anyone have a picture on here of what your wound looked like post op?

I had CRT D two weeka ago. I still have quite an amount of pain over device site which is restricting my left shoulder movement. How long this pain will last?. I am not able to turn to the left side and sleep? Can anybody can tell me as to how long this pain will last based on personal experience?

On June 3/15, I had a CRT- P implanted.
This is my fourth pm in 20 years though my previous ones were not CRT.
All is well except that little strips have yet to fall off.
They are still really stuck on.
Do I leave them be or try to gently remove them?
I am seeing my cardio next week.
Do I wait until I see him?
And for the first time, I received Vancomycin intravenously an hour before my procedure.
Four and a half years ago, I had my mitral valve repl...

Previous to having PM fitted last Monday we used to do a couple of Blood Pressure readings per day, I have just been out for a walk for twenty minutes and came back and thought I would try a Blood Pressure reading, it was 148/87 so following the PM op has that had an effect on increasing Blood Pressure or lowering it for you guys, thanks

Hi, I had a pacemaker fitted in February but I have been unhappy with the result (aesthetics and impact on sporting activity). My surgeon has agreed that it should be relocated to sit underneath the chest muscle. Obviously, the surgery will be more invasive and I would expect the tissue to take longer to heal than for the original surgery. However, it is time for the leads to bed into the heart that was the most disruptive part of the original surgery (advice varied but 6 weeks would seem nor...

Well I take my husband on the 29th of this month to see the surgeon to secdule the date for the insertion of his ICD. We're both nervous as you know what. Him only being 43 and myself 35. I've always thought we'd be old and gray before we would have to deal with anything like this. But side by side we will get through this as always.

just had a pacemaker implanted 3 weeks ago for atrial fibrillation and bradycardia... Initial discomfort at surgical site is worth it since i am no longer dizzy or short of breath.. The only problem is since i have favored my other arm because of lifting restrictions for 5 weeks i feel all my shoulder issues coming back and since i can no longer have an MRI this could be quite problematic. I did, however remember my surgeon saying that within a year or two the MRI restrictions could be a thing...

Hi All!
I am new to this website and very happy to have found such a supportive group. I was initially diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy in January 2014 after what I thought was an exacerbation of asthma. Since that time I have been on cardiac medications, 2 week Holter Monitoring, and had an insertion of a loop recorder. I had been having episodes of fainting, nausea, and vomiting. Bradycardia was the culprit! My heart rate dropped below 30 on several occasions. I had a dual...

I have vasovagel syncope which causes my heart rate to slow down resulting in me passing out. I have 2 questions:
Does anyone have this condition and if so did your pacemaker stop the passing out?
Although I was allowed to come home the same day of surgery, I feel that I am having a lot of pain; when did your pain subside after surgery?

I just got my dual lead PM a week ago today. I had an emergency temporary PM the day before. I also have to adjust to using a BIPAP at the same time. Been sleeping in a recliner. Not sure if I could lay on my left side to sleep without messing up the wiring. Leg gets uncomfortable on right side where temp PM was. Not supposed to sleep on my back due to central sleep apnea. So sleeping sitting up in recliner. Does anybody have any experience with both? I so need some pointers.

Hi Everyone,
I know the doctor said you can't feel the pulses, and I know you've probably seen this question before, but can you feel the pulses from your pacemaker?
I had a dual lead PM implanted three weeks ago. For the last week, I've really felt the pulses. I need my PM at night, since I pause too long, and when it kicks in, the pulses are quite strong, almost like a tick or a hiccup. I can put my hand over the pacemaker and feel them. It's freaking me out...

Hello,
I had a pm installed on friday. Last night, monday (3 days after insertion) I woke up with my left arm above my head. Not sure if I need to worry that either lead pulled out. Should I call or wait for my checkup on Thursday?
Thank you

Hi all! I had my first PM placed at 5pm on Friday and the surgery lasted for 2 hours and went very well, despite being over 3 1/2 hours late(got called back to preop area at 11:45am for my scheduled 1:30pm surgery and didn't go into surgery until 5pm) I am physically and mentally exhausted after spending a night at hospital. Now also surgical site and pacemaker area very swollen and painful...Hubby is taking great care of me. It was quite traumatic as I was awake and heard and felt most of wh...

1. How long was it before you were brave enough to lift your arm? My doctor said, "Two weeks," and I'm a little over that. Some websites for hospitals read, "four." I've been moving it; just haven't lifted it over my head.
2. Ladies: How long was it before you could wear a bra comfortably? Gotta go back to work in a week.
3. Dog owners: How long before you were brave enough to hold a leash? My dog pulls very infrequently, but I'm afraid a good pull mi...

I had a Boston Scientific PM put in four weeks ago. They had to go back in the next day to reconnect a wire. I saw the rep and Dr. the next day, but haven't seen the rep or Dr. since then. Had my stitches out in the office a couple of weeks ago and have been ok, except that I am still having the exact same symptoms that I got the PM for. Slow and skipped beats that make me feel like I am going to pass out. I am supposed to see a tech tomorrow but no Dr. for three months.
My question,...
