Went in hospital on June 18 due to fainting twice. About 1 hour from being released because tests seemed to come back ok after overnight stay. Fainted again hospita. And shortly after that doctors determined I needed to have PM. Surgery done next day on June 20 and came home on June 21. Still not sure why I have this thing, but told I needed it and would help with fainting spells. No more fainting spells, not needing to take much for pain, over the counter stuff. They did not send me home...

I am having my pacemaker fitted in 5 weeks time and even though I'm a little nervous, I will also be glad to not be dizzy and sick all the time.
What I'd like to know is, do you feel better straight away in regards to the dizzy and sick spells?
I've also been told to have about a week off work, I work in a call centre so it's not exactly an energetic job!
How long will it be before I'm back to normal health wise?

Looks like I'm going to be getting my 3rd pacemaker implanted on June 23rd. I had my first SJM pacer placed in 2001, the second in 2010 which is still tickin like a timex, but I've developed a weakened lower left chamber and need an upgrade to a CRT-P SJM pacer. This new pacer is hopefully going cure my edema and swelling. It's supposed to be really successful in helping heart failure patients. Will keep you guys posted as I recover next week. Have a great weekend :-)

I have to have my first pacemaker replacement soon. I'm worried about recovery time as I look after my 20 month old grandson twice a week and he likes to be picked up and carried quite a lot so wondered when it would be safe to look after him again after the surgery?

I was due to get a pacemaker last friday. Well I was prepared to goto theater etc, then went in. The procedure was done under a local anasthetic so I could hear and see everthing the doctors were doing. While the were doing the venogram I started feeling a burning sensation on my chest, then I was throwing up blood. A sunction was done in my mouth immediately and I was given oxygen at 100% since I got short of breath. The procedure was immmediately abondoned and the doctors request an xray and C...

My father is going to get a pacemaker/difibulator in July. He is in another state and I am trying to stay up on his health. Last night when I talked to my brother he said they would be doing dad's surgery in 2 stages, so it will take 2 days. Do any of you know why that might be.

I had pacer and leads removed 5-9-14. I have been in the hospital a total of ten days due to complications. Now home with a wound vac to heal site. I probably will have wound vac for another month.
I want to stress, push for help if your pacemaker pocket develops redness with signs of erosion as infection can bury deep even under armpit!

Shoulder, arm and neck pains grew worse starting 2nd evening after June 14 , 2014 pacemaker implant for 40's to 50' heart rates. Worsens when rising from sitting or lying down. Feels like muscle or artery/vein moving with pain. Excruciating no matter position. Neither 5mg hydrocodon/ 500mg acemetaphin or Tylenol with codein helps. Oddly Implant site only low grade pain. So whats with shoulder pains where none before surgery?

Hi,
Had my 1st replacement in October last year. All went well but the new pacemaker is far more prominent than the last one. I can only assume they haven't got the box to fit in the same pocket but was wondering if this is normal?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi, I'm 30yo fit female. I got my PM implant on Thursday, home on Friday. Aside from the general anxiety and frustration in the Hospital, everything went well with the Surgery. Since I've been at home I've gone for a few short easy walks around the block with my heartrate monitor on (out of curiosity). Occasionally, the PM kicks in but it paces me at 130bpm which is crazy for me because I am young and fit - on these occasions I get a strange feeling in my throat and feel a little woozy. Apparent...

Well, my replacement keeps getting better. I went last week to see the doctor and schedule my replacement. He said I could wait and have it done between the end of school and the start of summer school. Was just waiting for a call back that the insurance approved it. (Scheduled it for July 2) The doctor called me today. Of course it was 5 mins after my lunch so I didn't get the message until after the kids left. When I got home I called back and spoke to the person that did all the scheduling la...
