I have to have my first pacemaker replacement soon. I'm worried about recovery time as I look after my 20 month old grandson twice a week and he likes to be picked up and carried quite a lot so wondered when it would be safe to look after him again after the surgery?

if you don't need the wires replaced that should speed up recovery as they'll just open up the pocket and replace the PM. No waiting for wires to set in, just the incision to heal.

Replacement, quicker recovery time, you should be able to get back to normal physical activities soon after surgery. It is recommended that you avoid strenuous activities, so you will not be able to pick up your grandson for at least 4 to 6 weeks .just a tip, when sitting holding him, put a cushion between you both to protect wound site, i found this helped, as baby's move around a lot.
