Just had my St. Jude PM implanted 6/19/2014 & wonder how long it took others to get back to driving their car?

They don't let you drive yourself home but as long as you feel OK you should be able to drive in a couple days. You don't need to raise your arm above you shoulder to drive.

Ask your doctor or nurse. . .
I was able to drive two days after my first surgery and the day after on the second. I used a pillow on the arm rest to support my left arm while driving and had a pad on the seat belt.

I drove after just a couple days and the doctors didn't tell me when or if; it was just a decision of how I felt and how mobile I was. Plus, my family was hovering all over me and barely let me do a thing the first few days.
DON'T drive if you don't feel you can adequately handle the wheel.
The seatbelt was the worst part for me. I adjusted it and kept a hand towel rolled under it between my incision and the belt.

Hi,
I live in Iowa and my doc would not let me drive for 2 weeks after my implant.
Take care,

You don't say in your Bio which country you are in . (this is an international forum ; it is useful to fill it in so that answers to your queries can be relevant )
Here in the UK, as an example, it is illegal to drive for 7 days after a PM implant . Many other countries have similar restrictions.

Was told to wait one week before driving. It has been over a week. Hubby is afraid to let me drive and asked I give it two weeks. Can't wait to get back under the wheel. Think driving will be ok, but the idea about the protection between the incision and belt was a good idea.

i started driving an hour after i got home... had to pick up my meds and visit my dad in intensive care (he went in for open heart surgery the day i got out.) For the next couple weeks i drove and visited him 3 times a day as he recovered and spent time in rehab. I had absolutely no problem... check with your doctor though to be on the safe side.
