HI-
I'm new here. Got my PM on 3/24/17 and still reeling from the shock. I'm 56 years old, until tomorrow anyway. I am healthy, or at least I thought I was. My husband and I have spent the past 2 years dropping weight-he has lost 55lbs and I have lost 40. I thought I was in the best shape I have been in a long time. I felt great. I work with 3 & 4 year old special needs preschoolers and the job is fulfilling, fun and requires lots of energy.
For the past 7 years I have...

I just joined here but I have many years dealing with heart failure. I just added a brief bio if you'd like to read it. I'll visit here and offer answers or support if I know the answer. I encourage anyone to contact me if you have any similarity to my bio. Since my miracle I enjoy and need to spend some of my time paying it forward and paying it back

Hi all - well my pm insertion was bought forward a few days and went in on 4/4/17 instead of the 7th....no time to really think about it at the time.
Now two days later and i feel like I have been smashed with a cricket bat...and I am surprised to say quite a few tears have been shed. I guess its the acknowledgement that we have control taken away from us occassionally and a fear of the onknown at this point. But wow , on the other side of coin, I am grateful that...

Hi fellow heart people,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a odd butterfly sensation I am getting in my left chest area or into my left back area. I have a medtronic dual lead pacmaker for the past 2 year. I am mainly atrially paced, with ventricle sensing and pulse as needed.
I previously had this sensation when I was atrial and ventrical paced (think the MD called it pacemaker syndrome) and changed my pacemaker settings a year ago. No issues until today.

Is it possible that my pm activates at night and wakens me? Was implanted in Nov.do not know how often it activates. Having interrogation in a few weeks. Can it be determined at this exam if that is what happens? I wake up every night now about three hours after falling asleep. Have problems falling back to sleep.
Do you follow all of your physicians instructions?

Dear Members,
My name is Ryan Thiel, and I am a graduate student researcher at the University of Montana completing my thesis. Patients receive lots of advice and information during the treatment of a heart condition, and these messages can affect the way people make decisions regarding their health. I am looking for individuals with a clinical diagnosis of a heart condition to complete one online survey that takes 15 minutes to complete. Your participation in the study is totally volun...

Hello everyone
I am new to your forum but I have been visiting almost every night for the last month.
I was diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia almost 2 years ago and after many ups and downs (mostly downs) 😄 I was also diagnosed with pauses. I had a loop recorder inserted last year - that was the best decision I made as it proved my symptoms weren't in my head. An ablation was not successful and my EP took me off minax and put me on Flecanide as my pauses were getting longer (6...

Hello everybody,
Just thought I should introduce myself. I'm 24, on my 3rd ICD (got my first one at 11, I was diagnosed after my sister passed away suddenly). I live in Toronto and anyone who's aware of Sick Kids would know they host a pacemaker get together for kids and families. After I graduated (yes you call it that) from there to a grown up hospital, there weren't anymore get togethers. So I thought I should start it. If there's anyone else here from Toronto o...

This Russian hacking thing is really getting out of hand! I just got an email from Vladmir Putin saying they hacked into my Pacemaker, and unless I reveal all the state secrets I know, they'll reveal all the things hidden in the deepest recesses in my heart. OMG - what if they reveal my deepest thoughts? Will they expose my secret crushes?
BTW - I know absolutely NO state secrets. I'm doomed.

Just wanted to thank you all for being here. When I first found this sight I was a little depressed and upset.
I thank God that I decided to have a second go at my device.
So thanks to all of you for just being here to listen.

Has anyone had 2 pacemakers implanted in there chest? I had my first implant in 1994 and it was the old style wires that could not be removed was told it was to dangerous, so they placed another pacemaker in my chest on the opposite side. Has anyone else had this? It was done on Monday 3/27 had a few complications like puncturing my lung and needing a chest tube but came home yesterday and hopefully on the road to recovery. This was my 5 th pacemaker.

Had my PM placed 03/13 and I'll tell you this much....
I have never felt so incredible in all of my adult life.
Things started really changing for me around the age of 23. I was plagued with all kinds of strange symptoms and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, migraines, breathing problems, chronic nerve pain, kidney disease, low vitamin levels, and fibromyalgia (in the medical community some make fun of this diagnosis, meaning "i don...

Coming up on 3 months with my PM and all is well.
First of all, I'm still alive and I'm pretty happy about that. Getting the PM was a very sudden and nearly fatal experience (my heart stopped twice while in the ER) so what do I have to complain about? It saved my life! BUT there are a few things bothering me. None are that big a deal and I'm happy to live with them if I have to.
Every night I wake up about 5 hours after going to sleep. I generally lay in bed and fall a...

Over a spance of 15 years I have had eight stents placed in various heart arteries. My PM was placed over two years ago. I am having the same symtoms that I have had before having to get each stent. Is it possible to be needing another stent even after getting a PM placed? The heart doctor never said that I could still have to have them and I never asked.
Thank You!
Is it possible to love my pacemaker?

This seems silly, but I do think I love my pacemaker.
My device was implanted mid January of this year. I am almost at my 3-month mark now. For the most part, my recovery was fairly quick and I can honestly say I wish I had this done years ago.
I just turned 37 this month. Since I was around 21, I have had what was diagnosed as anxiety disorder, and it's believed that it was caused by birth control pills that caused my hormones to go out of whack.
You can never really ge...

After seeing 3 EP docs, 2 say no to ablation, I am playing the 66% ofds and going with No,
I have had a pm for 5 months due to sic sinus syndrome. I have been having asymptomatic PVC's which are occuring more frequently.
Had to go to a new cardiologist 2 weeks ago and he put me on metropolol 12.5 mg daily. Of course I experienced side effects so he discontinued the med.
I am going to see him on Thurs. Both my PCP and Endo feel he should put me on a calc...

Hi everyone. It's been a year today since I had my pacemaker inserted for heart block 2nd degree. It wasn't an easy start and I experience many problems until it was finally tweaked right in June 2016. Didn't help the fact I had vestibular problems at the same time and I thought palpatations shaking head and unsteadiness was my heart it wasn't. Still getting over that however my health has improved and I can cycle 30 miles and will increase it in time as I love cycling. I teac...

I have been getting what I think is Etopic beats that are painful. Just one, sometimes in throat, sometimes in chest. But , I have also had problems with my stomach the last few weeks. I was trying to get off Prilosec. Not able too . Went to Gastrologist, Throat Dr, becuase was having bad pains in throat. They want me to up my Prilosec for a month and see what happens ( so thrilled) then if its not better endosocopy. Now, back to etopics. I have been getting one after I settle in to go to sle...

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
