Hello Fam

Hello everybody,

Just thought I should introduce myself. I'm 24, on my 3rd ICD (got my first one at 11, I was diagnosed after my sister passed away suddenly). I live in Toronto and anyone who's aware of Sick Kids would know they host a pacemaker get together for kids and families. After I graduated (yes you call it that) from there to a grown up hospital, there weren't anymore get togethers. So I thought I should start it. If there's anyone else here from Toronto or Canada that would be interested let me know! I also have quiet a few interesting experiences, like the time I was on amiodarone and had my T4 thyroid went to 70 and then I was on sotalol and I lost half my hair.  I also went to journalism school so I love hearing other people's stories as well. Anyways just thought I'd reach out to you guys because as I'm getting older I'm starting to worry more, I think it's called adulting. 8-)

loads of hugs, positivity and happy wishes,

fatima

+forgot to add I have ARVC

You are a welcome Canadian here! I am from florida, but have been to your fair city and also St Edwards Island and Victoria!

I hope you get some responses!!! I am sure you have some tales to tell! I just got my pacemaker in December last year. So a newbie myself. But people have been very very kind on here and helped me a bunch!! Hey, getting more anxious hits at any age! I am 65, learning to live with my Pacer! ( they don't say a thing about that when they put it in) It is still new, I still have weird feelings that I dont like or know what many of them are They can throw me , let me tell you!! I hope you find some good friends and helpers on here. Please feel free to PM me , if you need to talk. I am good at that! Welcome again and you have come to a great club! Ileen!!!

I'm in Hamilton, Ontario! Some sort of get together would be great!

Currently 31 diagnosed HCM at 28, cardioverted in ER 11 day hospital stay, every test imaginable, cocktail of medications, complications, cardioverted at the gym (by my ICD), EP study with ablation now I've been stable since July 2016 but still feel quite wonky sometimes.

@Ileen heyy! Thank you, I'm already feeling great about this group. That's amazing, I've been to your state as well but just for a while, visited a cousin in fairhope,al so went through Pensacola, fl..I love all the palm trees and sunshine your city exhibits! You should let me know next time you visit Toronto and we can meet up ❤️

@hamsquatch and @jessie yaaaay my Canadians! Okay how strange is this that my pace buddy (a kid who's also a patient at sick kids) was from Hamilton, her name's Devon but we lost touch. But I have another pace buddy in Toronto so that makes four of us...it's a start 😎 we should plan something as the weather gets warmer. Also hamsquatch (sorry what's your actual name) I want to tell you after reading your experiences.. been there done that haha omg it feels so great to have people who understand

You know you're wired when...

Jerry & The Pacemakers is your favorite band.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
