Butterflies!

Hi fellow heart people,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a odd butterfly sensation I am getting in my left chest area or into my left back area. I have a medtronic dual lead pacmaker for the past 2 year. I am mainly atrially paced, with ventricle sensing and pulse as needed.
I previously had this sensation when I was atrial and ventrical paced (think the MD called it pacemaker syndrome) and changed my pacemaker settings a year ago. No issues until today.
Now I have brief runs of 'butterflied' like a fluttering and nausea which can last for 5 seconds or so and then settle and repeat. They make me feel quite sick.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank <3

Prepacemaker my cardiologist asked if my heart felt like butterflies or a hammer. Mine was the hammer. I asked what the butterflies would mean and he said possible afib.
So it could be just needing an adjustment or you could be having afib, or it could be something else. I would get my doctor to see and if not then I would get a second opinion.

Yes, I often have them. I too have a medtronic dual lead, almost 6 years now. It feels as if I am going into A Fib, then it will stop. Yes about 10 seconds. Cardio/ EP says all is well and not to worry, in other words, put up with it. He says it is probably ectopic beats. I beg to differ as I know how they feel and this is different. I would suggest you have a full check up to put your mind at rest, then if there is anything amiss you can have it dealt with. All the best,
Alma Annie.

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.

Hi there
if you are concerned then arrange for it to be checked and make sure all the settings are what they should be and haven't some how changed. They shouldn't in theory. I think we all feel different sensations at times especially when it's to do with the heart. Even food or hormones and stress etc can effect it. If you investigation shows you are ok and the heart is working fine then just relax and breath slowly when you get them as panic could make it worse.
hope that helps.
