Diagnosed with cardioinhibitory syncope

I have very recently been diagnosed with cardioinhibitory syncope following a tilt table test...during this test I blacked out and my heart stopped for 20 seconds. I have seen a cardiology consultant who said that I would benefit from a pacemaker and that it was the best treatment to have.
I also have nocturnal bradycardia and have recently had a ecg of 47bpm.
Can anyone tell me what the regulations are for driving with this condition after a pacemaker is fitted and maybe the length...

Bi-ventricular Pacing

On Friday morning I will have my original pacemaker replaced with a pacemaker with b-ventricular pacing.

Anyone who has gone through this - any advice? How did it go? I would be glad to know of things I should expect, and what to be aware of in the future.

Thanks.

A-fib with CHF

Hi,

I'm 80 years old and have been in A-fib for about 20 years. I'm in CHF now class III. My dr. has recommended a bi ventricular pacemaker with ICD. First they'll implat the PM, then cut the AV node 1 month later. I'm nervous about getting the PM, can anyone with similar problems comment on their experiences please? Thanks, I've already learned some from your forums!

Activities after 3 months of implant PM

Warm regards to all respective members.

I got implanted PM on 1/12015 and was discharged after 48 hours of observation. the wound is healed, have no pain, no oozing or no pain in movement. I guess my pulse rate 72 as I feel myself.
Can I be able to lift my left arm towards head and would be free to discharge any work including gardening and bike driving? I love bike driving ...its a small 100cc bike.
Should I be able to enjoy normal life?
Warm regards to all respectiv...

New Device

Just returned from an overnight stay at the hospital after having my 2.5 year old Medtronic Consulta CRT-P replaced with a Medtronic Viva XT CRT-D. EP felt the new device would serve me better. It is approx. 50% larger and heavier than the Consulta, and has the ability to deliver a "shock" when needed. Procedure lasted about 2 hrs --- I was in La-La-Land. A little sore today, but no big deal. Medtronic Reps were on hand every step of the way and delivered tons of info. Only thing I didn't like...

Effectiveness - Aspirin, Meds, Diet and so on..

A recent New York Times article deals with how effective meds, diets etc are in dealing with medical problems. NNT is the statistical measure that illustrates some surprising reults

For example- regarding the heart;

One heart attack is prevented when 2000 people take a daily aspirin for two years - NNT = 2000

One death is avoided in four years when 30 heart attack survivors adopt the popular mediterranean diet. It does not prevent the death of others in this...

Shortness of breath

Hi - I am getting close to needing my pm changed, but not in ERI yet, or at least not two weeks ago. I have been feeling absolutely fine without problems with stairs or walking in general, but all of a sudden 2 days ago I started not being able to walk up stairs or moving fast without getting short of breath. I don't feel dizzy or about to faint but weak and it gives me a head ache after getting to the top of stairs. It feels a lot like when I initially needed the pm. I am 100% paced.
Do an...

Possible Defibrillator Problem

I had my first pacemaker implanted in 2003, Hardly ever knew I even had it. That one lasted almost 9 years and then was replaced with the second device. In early 2014 Dr. detected some evidence of fluttering/fibrillation and implanted a Defibrillator. All units were Medtronic. With both Pacemaker I was able to be very active and until the Defibrillator was implanted I could walk 15 to 20 miles a week. After the Defibrillator implant I never could get back to the old energy level and have ha...

Not feeling miserable - but still in CHB

I'm 42 yrs old and in complete heart block due to an SVT ablation gone wrong- my symptoms are low HR, a bit tired, and my HR does NOT increase properly during exercise - can get up to 105bpm...of course - stress and worry - are a constant.

The Dr's are telling me I need a PM -not urgently - but that it is the only fix to get the top & bottom chambers talking again... and I find myself minimizing my symptoms - in fear of moving forward with the procedure.

It's been about 2...

restrictions

Hello everyone! I've looked at a lot of messages but none are answering my question. I had a dual chamber pacemaker put in one week ago. Is it bad to bend over at the sink to get my hair washed? Also can you feel when your PM kicks in? Thanks in advance! Charlene L.

Dilemma

So the east coast of the US is experiencing a blizzard. The snow is coming down now and we are expecting 2-3 feet of snow before it's over.

So tomorrow there will be snowmen cropping up all over town.

My dilemma is.....what do I use for the PM on my snowman? I don't have a spare.

Any suggestions?

Grateful Heart
