ICD and a new doctor

Hi, could anyone help me with this one. I have a doctor who put my ICD in and now he is monitoring it.
But I want start to see another doctor, who lives closer to my house. Would it be a problem to change doctors? And can I do it without notifying my current doctor? Any thoughts?

First thing to do is find out if the one closer to your home can monitor your type of device. If yes, then you'll need to either have them or you yourself contact the current dr to send a copy of your records.

I did

I liked the doctor who put the device in, but I did not like how I was treated at his office.

I told my GP and he helped me find a new cardiologist who in turn helped me find a new electrophysiologist. Since that time I changed cardiologists twice, and now the doctor I go to handles both my heart and the device.

In my experience it is best to see someone who is competent, comes highly recommended, and is someone you trust. For me I would drive further to see the doctor I trust, versus being frustrated.

I always tell my doctor when I change because you never know you may need them some day - do not burn your bridges with a doctor. They may save your life some day.
