Greetings....
First let me say l have learned so much since starting to read the posts this morning. So many of my questions have been answered which has made a huge difference.
I received my PM a week ago. After experiencing endless brady the PM was installed. I'm a 63 year old, highly active female. This pounding heart beat began on Sunday which took me off guard. I was just wondering if this is common post op.
I went for a short walk today, anxious to be back to my 5K walks. It appears it will be quite a while before l can return to my walking program. I became very tired in very short period of time. However l will attempt it again in a few days.
Enjoy your day all

Thank you Bean19 . You're right it takes time, something I can more than learn. I figure soon, after I've healed I'll reap the rewards. Patience is something I'll have to work on and by the looks of things I now have lots of time to practice.

Post PM you can get all sorts of unusual things that you may not have felt before. Some of may be due to the heart problems you had resulting in you needing the PM, some of it may be your body adjusting to the PM. You haven't given us any info in your post or your bio so it's hard to guess.
Post PM, I had all sorts of weird feelings. Some it was caused by the swelling from where they implanted my PM, some of it was caused by the higher voltage at which my PM was set, some was caused by the trauma I received prior to getting my PM.
Post implant, they keep the voltage higher on the PM to help set the lead tips in the heart. I could sometimes feel the tickle when the PM kicked in followed by the hard thump of my heartbeat. It would sometimes wake me up at night. After they reduced the voltage ( about 90 days in) I almost never feel my PM and the hard thump heartbeats have stopped.
I did have sessions of being wakened up with a pounding heart. That was about 10 months in with the PM. Checked with my EP but nothing showed up on my PM report. My PM indicated your heart rate can increase from having dreams but that doesn't necessarily mean you're having a heart problem. Other members on this forum have indicated some heart medications can cause some people to have unusual dreams. So, changes in medications, causes unusual dreams, unusual dreams causes heart pounding, wakes you up. Of course, by the time I was ready to really make an issue of the situation with my EP, the heart pounding stopped. The old - always works when you take it into the mechanic routine.
I would still give your EP a call and see if he/she things it's something they need to watch. I went into a really bad session of afib with RVR right after having my PM implanted. I feel my heart was just throwing a temper tantrum because it now had to march to the beat of the PM. (How's that for anthropomorphizing a medical condition?) But after that one session things have gone really well for me.
I hope things continue to go well for you.

Thank you Theknotguy...the information you provided is invaluable. Not sure what an "EP" stands for I'm assuming it's the person that regulates the PM. I have an appointment Feb 3 when I will be sure to mention my symptoms and the adjustment of the voltage. Lots to learn about the PM. I don't really think about it too much because it seems to make me too anxious. It won't be long before I'm back in the swings of things, it's all a learning process.
Words of encouragement..

Thank you Angry Sparrow.....Sorry to hear about your challenges. l think recording my progress each day is a wonderful idea. I'm into to stats so it appealed to me right away. I could set small goals every day. Today's challenge is washing two loads of laundry. There are no stairs involved so it should prove to be easy. I have my laundry in a cart so no lifting either.
It amazes me how quickly one can adapt. 79 more days to
complete health.
You know you're wired when...
You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.

I too received my pm for Brady. At the seven day mark I went for a mile long walk and did dishes-i then napped for hours! Just listen to your body. Being an active individual you will know when to stop pushing and when you can push harder. I'm at just about two months out with barely any restrictions!
Enjoy the slow down process. My doctor informed me that you will never be upset giving your body more time to heal.
Each day holds new adventures. Enjoy and best of luck!
