So the east coast of the US is experiencing a blizzard. The snow is coming down now and we are expecting 2-3 feet of snow before it's over.
So tomorrow there will be snowmen cropping up all over town.
My dilemma is.....what do I use for the PM on my snowman? I don't have a spare.
Any suggestions?

....CRT-D for a snowman!
You & your husband - at your ages - should NOT be out in the snow rolling up big balls of it in the temps you will be having. Bossy was trying to politely tell you the same thing, but you aren't listening.
Especially w/ the amount of the white stuff that will be piled on your roof.
You two hire a teen ager to do the job if you want a snowman - that's why God invented them, for us old, retired folks to hire to shovel snow, dig ditches, push wheelbarrows, rake leaves , pump the sump, mow lawns, etc.
Please don't be a Bernie Connally or Andy Wagler for me to have to hunt down in the snow after you have a heart attack pretending you are 75 yrs younger than you are. At my age, I plan to sit in the window, sip hot chocolate, nibble on sea-salt chocolate doughnuts & watch the "Great Blizzard of 2015." Do we get tee shirts for surviving it?
If you insist on continuing this foolishness, go down to Good Will & buy a couple toddler type snow suits in XXXXXXXL size, bundle up warmly & go out & make snow angels - you'll need them to take you away.
And if you REALLY insist - here are the instructions on how to build a PM/ICD:
Ingredients: 100 lbs Titanium ore; one Silicon Boule, 6 inches longX1" diameter; One glob of polymer for insulators; 6 feet of gold wire, .01 mm in dia; ....
Equipment needed: 1 blast furnace; one micro-capable precision saw for cutting wafers from Boule; 1 wave soldering machine; 1 rolling mill for making Titanium sheet; one electron beam welder or Laser welder for making Titanium can. One vacuum pump; 1 high vacuum device for vapor deposition of.....
Sorry, I cannot complete them tonight. Good Wife of 55+ yrs just called me to go down & watch "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" w/ her.

lid

Use a small lid from your pots and pans :)
And of course you should build a snowman!!!! Don't listen to the party poopers.
Frozen

Have you seen the movie? One of the songs is Do You Want to Build a Snowman. The only song that repeats in your head more than Its a Small World.

I'm guessing you have all those items in your basement. Use your powers for good and not evil!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Don't you have Frozen to pop in your DVD player? Do you want to build a snowman is not leaving my head anytime soon...
LOL

Now I get it Bossy. No, I haven't seen the movie yet but I do know "Let it Go". Now I have to watch the movie. :-)
Donr: I keep saying one of these days I'm going to act my age, don't know when though. Besides...look who's talkin'.
I thought I would try out the snow shovel my husband gave me for Christmas.....jk. We already have the snow suits....and the feet pajamas.
So far Tracey and Sarah are in the running for the best PM/ CRT-D device for the snowman. I gotta say, the breath mint tin would have a nice fragrance. :-/
Sarah: I don't do social media either but I like that we can help each other here and sometimes have fun too. You know what I am going to say.....Laughter is the best medicine!!
Don's basement....oh...I don't think you want to go there.
So come on guys, put on your top hats.....er, thinking caps and let's see what else you can come up with for a PM/ CRT-D for my snowman. I've got plenty of wires.

Good news/ Bad news
by Grateful Heart - 2015-01-27 02:01:41
Woke up this morning to hardly any snow. The blizzard missed us. That's the good news.
Bad news.....so my snowman will have to wait for another day.
Good news....That gives me time to gather all the components I will need.
Sparrow: I'm sure I can find a few beer cans around here with my crew.
Don: Your GW may be on to something. Also, I don't see screws on your list?
Ian: Thanks for the tip. No furosemide for my snowman.
Still open to other suggestions if you guys have them.
It is, afterall......A small world. :-)

I had a snowman with a cardiac condition last year. He was fitted with a PM and the implant site became infected.
It was red, hot and inflamed ; what with that and the furosemide that he was taking there was water everywhere !
I put him in the back of the car to take him to the hospital for a PM check-up. Got there and he had disappeared ; very strange !!! Never saw him again.

Screws
by donr - 2015-01-27 06:01:18
Screws come as an item called "Misc bench top hardware." Screws are ubiquitous; and - the bigger, the better.
Sorta like tools - in my business, you never start a job w/o a screwdriver & a hammer. The bigger, the better. There's an old saying "All tools eventually become hammers, except for very sharp wood chisels - they become screwdrivers."
Also, there's the two most indispensable items off the bench top - they sit next to the BIG screws. You guessed it - WD-40 & Duct Tape. Especially here in the south.
Well, we all can wait till next year. BUT (& I just remembered this) "The Great Blizzard of '88" (1888) came in March & dumped 3 ft of snow on the entrire NE Corridor - maybe there's hope for this year.

Bossy: You WILL get yours...

...I promise you!!!! You would have to mention THAT song. My Good Wife of 55+ years always wants to take that ride when we go to Disney World then it takes weeks to get that song out of my head. Ya know, were it not for all the ^%^%^%$$%$$%^^ kids, Disney World would be a great place to go.
There are several that are pleasant to run through your head, but none of them would mean anything to this crowd - except Sir Edward Elgar's "Pomp & Circumstance" played over & over & over at graduations. The only thing worse than hearing it, is to be in the band that HAS to play it.
OK, GH, I'll go through my 35 X 90 steel shop Bldg & see what I can find that might fill the bill:
1) a Varian Brothers circa 1963 reflex klystron tube out of a radar
2) A printed circuit board from a treadmill
3) An old treadmill motor
4) A shot solar charger for LED lights for a carved angel
5) An unused video card for my previous computer that croaked before I could install it.
6) Six sticks of obsolete RAM for several old PCV's
7) 2 dead digital hand-held multimeters
8) Several old cell phones - a mix of obsolete & one that fell into a toilet
9) 5 dead or obsolete hard drives.
GW says I'm a pack rat, but what does she know?
I couldn't throw in the Partridge because we had it for supper tonight! (Burp - delicious!)
BOSSY: We have an interesting arrangement for selecting disks. I have to select them. GW leaves the room if she doesn't like my pick. Then no matter what I've picked, she goes to sleep. Usually right after the opening credits have run. Actually, I selected "The Apartment," Circa 1955 w/ Shirley McClain, Jack Lemon & Fred McMurray. She was gone by the opening scene & woke up when the closing credits rolled. Yes, we have "Frozen."

Do you want to build a snowman...
by Bostonstrong - 2015-01-26 07:01:31
My sympathies on the snow. Stay warm and cozy indoors but if you do venture out to build a snowman you can probably pick up a pm for about 9k from your local hospital. Donr can probably tell you how to build your own for much less. Hope you have a good stash of chocolate for the storm!
Now that song is stuck in my head...
