In I got my PM two weeks ago yesterday. In the past 11 days, my weight has dropped from 240 to 229 1/2. While I like losing weight, such a rapid loss concerns me. My weight was perfectly stable until 11 days ago, 4 days after the implant. Any ideas? Anyone experience anything similar? Thanks in advance.

Happy New Year to everyone. It is 8.30 am 2014 here in OZ Land. Here's hoping that there will be more love in the world this year.
Time is going so fast that I think the world must be turning more quickly with all the planets in the solar system. (I know all the astronomers will say this is impossible!)
Anyway lets hope that all the pm problems will be sorted and everyone will feel healthier.
Thanks everyone for all the help I have received since my pm in 2011. I knew nothing...

.................so,..I'm guessing that no-one has ever heard of Rick James......
And why would you...?
Rick James was a rock and roll Hellraiser who died at the age of 56, as a result of a life of wild over-indulgence in every department known to man..
He was also a big buddy of Eddie Murphy,..another Hellraiser and ex Navy pal. James played a bit part in Murphys film 'Life'. James also played a big part in a big chunk of American music..Neil Youn...
Kinked leads?

I got a c spine xray before Christmas, was out of the office last week, and looked at the images online this morning when I got back. The oblique view shows 2 very tightly kinked leads. I called radiology and had one of the docs take a second look. He thought it was probably the angle of the shot. The pacer is working fine so no worries there. If the leads really are kinked would this be a problem at some point?
Thanks

Four weeks post implant and I am beginning to see the light at the end of tiredness. The comments made by fellow implanters really helped me. Thanks for taking the time. A very Happy New Year to each of you.

Is there anyone that can tell me if my single lead can be identified as being implanted in the atrium or ventricle of the heart.
I honestly don't know.
I have a Boston Scientific S601 and my card has a section mentioning ventricle ?????
Thank you for any advice

Not sure if this is a coincidence ,but has anybody had issues with their PM and inbuilt hands free phones in the car. Twice today I was sitting in my car on the phone and both times felt rather funny. Heart having funny beats and felt fluttery. I am six weeks into my implant and heart has been pacing really well, about half and hour after I was on the phone my heart kept missing beats for about 10 minutes. It gradually settled and went back into a good rhythm. Would be interested if anybody e...

Hello I am 2 weeks post surgery for pacer implant. I have had a rash since second day home. Initially thought was just a heat rash under both arms. Now not so sure, I am itching now in all warm spots as well as torso, scalp, backs of knees and mostly in groin area (warm spots). itching sucks. Read a article about an individual that was allergic to components of the pacer, I have never to my knowledge been allergic to any metals or plastics. Has this been discussed on here at an earlier da...

I understand there are vests advertized on the internet to shield the wearer from the electromagnetic fields of chain saws, log splitters etc. Can anyone help me to find one or more? Anyone have any advice for me re the aforementioned tools?

I had a pace-maker put in in April. On Dec. 8 -13, we had an ice storm and I had thrown salt and sand down. After a few hours I went out and just pushed the ice to the side. after a 1 1/2 hour my chest felt funny. It turned out to b A-fib. I was wondering if the pacemaker got cold and had issures.

Man survives first week with artificial heart after world-first operation:
A 75-year-old Frenchman was feeding himself and chatting to his family more than a week after becoming the first person to be fitted with an artificial heart, one of his surgeons said.

Greetings fellow members...
Hopefully we will all begin a new journey into the upcoming new year. I hope it will be a wonderful year for us all.
So let me begin by wishing all the best New Year possible...
I had my 3 month PM checkup this morning, and thankfully, once again it showed progress and positive results. I feel blessed, and thankful. My percentage of time in afib was down from .7 % to .3 %...As Hiram, the PM tech said, this may not seem too significa...

Hello Everyone,
I found this website through google searches and its been a great help for me already.
I'm 26 years old and had a pacemaker implanted one week ago today. I've never had any health problems in the past so, as you can imagine, the week-long stay in the ICU culminating in a pacemaker was quite a surprise. I was out Christmas tree shopping with my Fiance and I started getting really dizzy and weak feeling. The next morning I visited my General Practice Doct...

Last night I jumped up at 2am. I had a sensation that I needed to jolt myself back to breathing. When this occurred I made a gasping sound once and was ok. I called my cardiologist today to see what my pacemaker did last night but they won't have the reading until tomorrow. I have dysautonomia ( deregulation of the autonomic nervous system) at got the pacer in Oct. due to bradycardia from the faulty nervous system.
A sleep test three years ago was fine. I went to doctor today and ekg fine....

Having an ICD implanted next week and am female. Have not been able to locate postings on tips on what types of bras are most comfortable post-surgery and what works best (if anything) to cushion the site from a bra (strap). Please advise. Thank-you! :)

I HAD SAME PROBLEM; WENT TO TARGET AND PURCHASED 3 BRAS, ALL LARGER, 3XL, 2XL AND XL. THEN CUT ALL EDGES THAT TOUCHED ME, LOL.... GOT THE CHEAPEST BRAS POSSIBLE BUT STILL PAID ABOUT $15 EACH. WORE EACH SIZE FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK AND THEN EVENTUALLY GOT INTO MY REGULAR BRA SIZE. AT MY SIZE, SOME SUPPORT IS NEEDED BUT THEN DO NOT WANT ANY DISCOMFORT. THIS WORKED FOR ME, GOOD LUCK!!!

I have had my pacemaker since 2007. My time will be up in July and I will have to have another one. I am 100% dependent as I had to have an ablation for arritthyma. I am going to have to go often now eventually weekly. I am afraid again and am looking for someone who has been through this. I am 79 years old, female and am very healthy and do not look nor act my years so they say. I am more concerned with the time leading up to the replacement than the actual procedure. Be looking forward...

I have had my pacemaker for ten years and will receive a new one this summer. My question is how will having the new implant affect my ability to buy travel insurance. My husband and I travel south from Canada to the US for the winter and I am curious if I am going to have trouble getting out of country medical insurance or if there is a waiting period before I will be able to get insurance. I have searched through a number of insurance sites but have been unable to find the answer.
