.................so,..I'm guessing that no-one has ever heard of Rick James......
And why would you...?
Rick James was a rock and roll Hellraiser who died at the age of 56, as a result of a life of wild over-indulgence in every department known to man..
He was also a big buddy of Eddie Murphy,..another Hellraiser and ex Navy pal. James played a bit part in Murphys film 'Life'. James also played a big part in a big chunk of American music..Neil Young and Eddie Kendricks being just two of the influential people that he worked with...
Rick James's world is not one that most of us can understand, least of all sympathise with..
Just one little thing.....Rick James had a Pacemaker...
For those on this Forum it just might be interesting, should the world of rock music be of interest.,,.and you can find out more on line..
For those on this Forum this is a great opportunity to slam someone who has gone ..'Off Piste' with a topic.
It will not be the last time
Happy New Year Rock and Rollers !!

but did not know why. So I googled it and read his Wikipedia write up. He was not one of our stellar citizens and not a proper role model. Those were my thoughts. And then I read the epitaph on his head stone.
"I've had it all
I've done it all
I've seen it all
It's all about love --
God is love."
RIP Rick James. Happy that you figured it out.

Morning comes the sunrise and I gaze upon your bed. I see that it is empty and there's devils in my head. I embrace the many colored beast. I grow weary of the torment can there be no peace. And I find myself just wishing that my life would simply cease.
or
There is a town in North Ontario. All my memories are there....
I could go on and on but those were good times way back when. Saw Crosby, Stills and Nash up close and personal at a small venue. It was their first performance after his liver transplant. Was guilty of more than a few excesses back in the day. And I lived to tell about them haha. Old Crazy Horse wasn't there. Too bad.

Thanks for the little bit of trivia I threw out at our New Year's Day dinner table. No one thought Rick James ever calaborated with good old Neil. It just goes to show you that a good musician is capable to produce all kinds of music.
Note to BillMFI.... that is on of my favorite Neil Young's song, I could go on and on about his songs.

I think in global terms.....music transcends race, gender, and all cultures. Good post Tat Man

Rick James was from Buffalo, NY - not far from where I live. It was a big story here when he died.

I wander if you're still on-line...I was a teenager when super freak came out,,,my friends and I would sing it everywhere because it was banded in our town ( so was Let's get physical by Olivia Newton John) ...people back then would FREAK if they heard the songs now...
I love your sense of humor,,,I've had a bad heart since birth,,,but in 1985 a ran a full mile...were you healthy before the PM...it'd wierd to call it PM cause it is the abbreviation for prime minister...tell you how old I am by Margaret Thatcher was in office and the 50pence electrical guy look like Prince Charles..ears and everything..my second child was born in Lakenheath he has dual citiizenship...we had a draught the whole three years over there.
I was reading some old posts of yours and I just had to say your funny, brave, and you can run...maybe after my fourth battery and two dislodged leads are taken out I might try to run at age 47.. I'm not dead yet...I just need fine-tuning and I wish this comment box had spell check..I hate capital letters.
You know you're wired when...

I never knew Rick James collaberated with Neil Young, he's one of my all time favorites. I adore Neil Young, a good Canadian chap!!!
I always associated Rick James with the Disco Era.
Unfortunately he passed away on my birthday on August 7th, I kind of forget what year.
Happy New Year!!!
